On a restless ocean, a group of weary survivors contemplate their grim fortune: What had started out as a fun little fishing trip soon turns into a nightmare of damnation, trapped on a floating prison. The continents have been hit by a plague that has turned humanity into living corpses - leaving our castaways at sea to fend for themselves. With provisions low, hope comes in the form of a luxury liner sailing into view on the horizon. All they needed to survive would be onboard, but who among them has what it takes to find out what happened to its crew and passengers?

The oceans of the world are no longer safe. Ships are being attacked and sunk by what survivors describe as a giant sea monster. The United States Government sends the frigate Abraham Lincoln to investigate, carrying renowned scientist Pierre Aronnax in hopes of solving the mystery. They soon encounter the "sea monster", which is actually a submarine, far advanced than anything the world has ever seen - commanded by Captain Nemo.

On Christmas Eve, after Jimmy breaks one of his father's ornaments, a strange force shrinks both he and his sister down to ornament size. On the lowest branch, they meet an Old St. Nicholas ornament who explains that the Star Angel, residing at the very top of the Christmas tree, alone has the power to return them to normal size and must do so before sunrise, when the magic that brings the ornaments to life will fade away, turning Jimmy and Samantha into ornaments as well.
