Life in a Medieval City is the classic account of the year 1250 in the city of Troyes, in modern-day France. It was home to the celestial leaders of China, men that possessed the Mandate of Heaven. On his deathbed, some historians claim that when he was pressed to name a successor, Alexander the Great muttered that his empire should go "to the strongest". Other sources claim that he passed his signet ring to his general Perdiccas, thereby naming him successor, but whatever his choices were or may have been, they were ignored.
