First published by H. G. Wells in 1898, The War of the Worlds is the granddaddy of all alien invasion stories. Few perspectives epitomize the sheer drama and sacrifice of combat more perfectly than those of the fighter pilots of World War II. Marine general William H. Rupertus is best known today for writing the Corps' Rifleman's Creed.
