I was to live with him, to be his in every way—all ways—he saw fit.
I was to be his wife, and so I offered myself up as the proverbial sacrifice to the very devil himself.
I just didn’t expect to enjoy being with a monster as much as I did.

Alright, so for this one I was on a mission: something short, spicy, and with red on the cover. Why was that harder than it sounds? 😅 But this fit the vibe well enough, so I grabbed the audio and pressed play.
This is a very short monster romance, told in duet style narration (which I loved). J.F. Harding and Stella Hunter absolutely delivered. Their voices? Perfect. They really elevate even the simplest storyline, and honestly they’re a big reason this worked as well as it did.
As for the story… it’s pretty much exactly what the synopsis promises.
A father sells his daughter to a literal Beast to settle a debt. And when I say Beast, I mean it—huge, fur-covered, horns, claws, glowing red eyes. Three times the size of a man. Feared by villagers. Full monster energy. She’s meant to be his wife, his possession, his sacrifice… and surprise surprise, she doesn’t exactly hate it.
But let’s be real here.
This book is basically all smut. There’s barely anything else going on. If you’re picking this up for deep emotional development or layered storytelling… this isn’t that. It’s primal, possessive, breeding-kink-heavy monster spice from start to finish. 🌶️
What did bug me though? The repetition.
The Beast keeps repeating the same thing over and over:
He’s the Beast.
He wants kids.
He wants to possess his wife.
She belongs to him.
Yes. We got it the first five times 😅
I know it’s a short story, but that’s exactly why it felt unnecessary. There could have been more variety in dialogue or even a little more emotional tension instead of looping the same possessive lines. For something this short, every word matters.
Was it hot? Absolutely.
Was it emotional? Not really.
Did it make me cry? Nope.
Did it scratch the “short and spicy monster” itch? Yes.
But because of the repetition and lack of depth, I can’t give it more than 3 stars. It delivered what it promised, but nothing beyond that.
If you want quick, intense, possessive monster smut with duet narration that hits? This will work.
If you want more substance? You might walk away wanting more.
And sometimes… that’s okay. 😉
