Heather was born and raised in Jackson, Michigan where she still lives today with her husband, Michael, and their dogs, Sippi and Hazel. Her daughter, Michaela (MJ), is studying Exercise Science, Psychology, and pre-Occupational Therapy. Heather enjoys reading and doing various types of crafts. She loves to take road trips with Michael and MJ. After the death of her daughter, Lauren, Heather has developed a passion for raising awareness of adolescent mental health and suicide prevention. Heather has worked in the field of K-8 education for 23 years, as a classroom teacher, consultant, and coach. She is also an assistant Junior Varsity softball coach. Currently, she is a computer science teacher for grades 6-8 and the middle school yearbook adviser. With the launch of this book, Heather’s goal is to help other survivors of suicide loss, especially parents, heal and find a purpose.
