Lara Bricker is a journalist, true crime author, podcaster and certified cat detective. She is the author of Dead on Deadline, the first in the Piper Greene Exeter mystery series, which is set in her historical New England hometown. Lara has been one of four crime writers on the hit podcast, Crime Writers On, since 2014. She is the host of the Patreon exclusive podcast “Leave It To Bricker,” where she investigates mysteries - or at least mysteries to her - in her little town. Since becoming a certified cat detective, many of those mysteries are of the feline variety.

Lara has worked as a journalist since 1998 and remains an active freelance writer as a way to write about all of the interesting people she meets. Her work has appeared in the Portsmouth Herald, the Exeter News-Letter, the Hampton Union, the New Hampshire Union Leader, Woman's World magazine, USA Today, and the Boston Globe. In 2008, she covered the first death penalty case to go to trial in New Hampshire in almost fifty years for the Associated Press.

Lara is the author of the true crime book Lie after Lie: The True Story of a Master of Deception, Betrayal, and Murder.

As a news reporter, she has received numerous awards from both the New Hampshire Press Association and the New England Newspaper & Press Association for her crime and investigative reporting.

She currently writes the Exeter Life column for Seacoast Media Group and produces the companion podcast.

​Lara was previously a licensed private detective. She worked as a defense investigator for the New Hampshire Public Defender system for seven years.
