Laurel Parnell, Ph.D. is a leading expert on the trauma therapy, Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is the developer of EMDR-related therapies, Attachment-Focused EMDR and Resource Tapping™ and is the founder and director of the Parnell Institute for EMDR. An EMDR pioneer and innovator, Dr. Parnell has immersed herself in the practice and development of EMDR since 1991. Dr. Parnell brings a client-centered attachment-focused approach to the work that emphasizes the importance of a compassionate, safe therapeutic relationship and the adaptation of protocols and procedures according to the needs of the individual client. In addition to Rewiring the Addicted Brain, Dr. Parnell has written five other books on EMDR as well as articles, and a book chapter. Considered a master clinician, she has produced several videos of live EMDR sessions with clients that demonstrate her work as well as home study courses of her workshops. She is one of the most respected instructors of EMDR trainings and EMDR workshops. She teaches workshops based on her books nationally and internationally.
