À propos de cet audio

Book Two in the instant USA TODAY bestselling trilogy!

From the viral TikTok author of the stalker romcom, LIGHTS OUT, comes Navessa Allen’s second book in bestselling The Into Darkness Trilogy, upping the ante with voyeurism and play club kink.

“I wanted this woman, and I was a man who always got what he wanted.”

Nico “Junior” Trocci knows Lauren Marchetti is off limits. She is sweetness and laughter, whereas Junior exists in a world of violence and depravity. Men like him don’t get to have women like her. It’s why he pushed her away back in high school and kept his distance ever since.

But when Junior looks Lauren up online, he discovers the shy, bookish girl he remembers is gone. In her place is a strikingly beautiful woman whose social media is filled with scantily clad pictures of herself and a connection to a nearby play club. Junior’s innocent curiosity quickly turns into a dark obsession. Watching Lauren from a distance isn’t enough; he needs to make her his.

“He’s ruthless; a walking red flag. Good thing red is my favorite color.”

Lauren is intrigued by the mystery man who keeps showing up at her club, who tempts her white-hot desires. But as their flirty online messages stir up a deeper form of connection, Lauren worries she’s developing real feelings for this brooding stranger. As their combined desire ratchets up to a breaking point, who will seduce who?

I'm gonna agree with the other reviews and say I was really looking forward to this but it fell flat for me.
I didn't feel the anticipation or excitement I felt for the storyline and characters that I did with lights out.
I wanted to love it but it was just okay. I didn't really enjoy the use of they/them pronouns. It's fiction and an audio book, I don't see the point.
I definitely still look forward to whatever Navessa has coming next though 🥰

I wish I loved it as much as I thought I would..

Not quite as funny as “Lights Out”, but still absolutely AMAZING!!! The spice was SPICY, and the cute scenes were ADORABLE! I cried at least 5 times (not including my 20 minute cry when I realized I’d finished the book. If I could go back in time and read this for the first time again, I would a million times!!) Navessa, you have done it again girl!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

OH MY GAWD!!!!

I love this series!!!! It’s so good. One minute you’re laughing and the next the smut is smutting. Junior is on his own level and I love him for that. This book was chefs kiss! Can’t wait for the next one!

Love

First of all, the performance of this one has me torn because, as per usual, I loved Teddy Hamilton in this one. However, the other male narrator and the female narrator drove me crazy, ESPECIALLY for the Taylor character. The nasal voice she puts on is so grating.

As for the story, this one just didn’t hit the same marks as Lights Out for me. It feels like a generic mafia romance rather than a unique follow-up to Josh and Aly’s story. I obviously wasn’t expecting Junior and Lauren to be like Josh and Aly but I was at least expecting two books in the same series to have some tonal similarities. This one just fell flat on its face from the beginning.

I was interested in the sex work aspect but the whole thing feels like someone trying to convince you they’re sex-positive rather than just BEING sex-positive. We spend more time hearing Lauren talking about sex work than actually seeing that part of her life. It all came across very performative and I was bored most of the time.

This just feels like another instance of the first book in a dark romance/comedy series being lightning in a bottle and authors chasing that for the sequel but never quite catching it.

Didn’t live up to Lights Out
