I thought it was great, it was a really unique take in the zombie apocalypse and displayed a lot of zombie scenarios and ideas I had never seen and I'm a zombie fanatic so that I'd saying something. the writing style is a little repetitive but that's does not distract from it at all. beautiful.

the narrator is masterful with a wide range of voices and accents that make characters easy to recognize and gives each one their distinct personality.

the author seems to have a very objectifying view of women.

One of the very best "dead" series I've experienced. The narration was amazing, and considering the vast size of this collection, I found myself engaged in the story line throughout it's entirety and honestly can not recall a point where I entered into a state of tedium. If this genre interests you, do not hesitate. It is well worth the credit.

For 1 credit over 100 hours of story is a great value but my 2 main problems with this work is that there are way too many characters to solidify interest in them and for some reason there is a lot of graphic descriptions of rape in this which I find distasteful in a audiobook.

The narrator is wonderful. Great storyline. Some of which is quite gruesome and/or difficult to digest, but easy enough to fast forward.

A well written book. But too, harsh and barbaric with no hope in it. The description of gore, violence, are one thing, but the continued and vivid description of the rapes and abuse was too cruel and miserable. It just made me sad to read all the pain.

I only made it through 5 / 12 books.

Overall it was well written but miserable story.

150-odd hours of zombies. Okay .. sometimes T.W. Brown repeats himself and I can scream at certain points about the stupidity of a choice or whatever .. but for the most part this is a good-long-listen. But I did enjoy the books for the most part and agree with other reviews .. characters are tough to keep on top and so on. But I found it a nice listen and it was okay. Sorry not the most OMG review .. just .. okay.

It took a bit to get into, but once I did I was hooked. Never thought 140+ hours of zombies would go by so fast. Narrator was great, and did an excellent job with all the different characters. My only complaint, if I had to have one, would be the vignettes. I sometimes found it confusing trying to keep track of all the different characters.

In all, it’s a decently entertaining zombie apocalypse series that offers excellent value for your credit. I think the narrator’s performance gives it that little extra to make it worth your while. A poor narrator could easily have tipped this from “sure, I’d recommend it” to “don’t bother, it’ll make your ears bleed”.

Pleasantly Surprised

I thought this book was very well thought out and extremely realistic. It took a bit to get used to the cadence of the side by side stories from different groups/people but was well worth it.
I became super attached to some of the characters and was devastated when some eventually died (the book covers several decades so that’s not really a spoiler) and I think that speaks to the writing skills of the author that they can immerse you in this world so that you are invested in the outcomes. The narrator had a real challenge on their hands with so many diverse characters to represent and I think they did well… it’s hard for men to voice a women character (especially a teen or young woman) and they made a good effort - not amazing but certainly not distracting.
If I could give more stars I would… try this if you like Zombie or post apocalyptic type novels - you won’t t regret it!
