À propos de cet audio
Now available in one discounted collection, the Jurassic Dead omnibus edition includes all three novels in the action-horror trilogy that New York Times best-selling author Jonathan Maberry calls, "A wild collision of modern SF and old-school horror...over the top, inventive and scary fun!"
Jurassic Dead
An Antarctic research team hoping to study microbial organisms in an underground lake discovers something far more amazing: perfectly preserved dinosaur corpses. After one thaws and wakes ravenously hungry, it becomes apparent that, like life, death will find a way.
Environmental activist Alex Ramirez, son of the expedition's paleontologist, came to Antarctica to defend the organisms from extinction, but soon learns that it is the human race that needs protecting.
Jurassic Dead, Book 2: Z-volution
After the discovery of a dormant zombie virus in preserved Antarctic dinosaur specimens, billionaire visionary and megalomaniac William DeKirk proceeds with his plan to unleash a zombie-dinosaur army upon the world, starting with Washington D>C. The US military struggles to prevent the contagion's spread and to defend against the onslaught of prehistoric monstrosities as all-out war breaks out between the living and the dead.
However, DeKirk has even farther-reaching plans. Modifying the virus to allow for greater control, he intends to impart upon himself all the benefits of zombie-ism - near indestructibility, immortality, and immunity to attacks of other zombies, including the dinosaurs, which he can now direct at will. Nothing can stop him from eradicating civilization as we know it, except possibly returning heroes Alex Ramirez and Veronica Winters.
The unlikely pair must rescue the one scientist who may hold the key to arresting the zombie apocalypse, a CDC expert trapped in a besieged Atlanta office. Can they secure the antidote and turn the tide before the plague reaches its full potential, or will the planet return to the dominion of its long-extinct masters and a new tide of undead humanity?
Jurassic Dead, Book 3: Ctrl-Z
Three months after the fall of Washington D.C., the planet is a hellish battleground for an all-out war between prehistoric undead forces and the scattered remnants of the living. Billionaire William DeKirk, now ruling the last vestiges of civilization, is human no longer, but rather an unpredictable rogue driven by a noxious blend of primordial virus and modern day sociopath. He deliberately spreads the zombie plague across the world and deploys his dinosaur-human army to destroy survivors or coerce them into pledging allegiance to his undead flag.
But the resistance movement has its own plan to hit Ctrl-Z and undo the zombie apocalypse. In his darkest moment yet, Alex must confront the grim reality that the only way to defeat a monster is to become one himself.

For dinosaurs, it was a big rock. For humans: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). When the Earth is hit by the greatest CME in recorded history (several times larger than the Carrington Event of 1859), the combined societies of the planet's most developed nations struggle to adapt to a life thrust back into the Dark Ages. In the United States, the military scrambles to speed the nation's recovery on multiple fronts including putting down riots, establishing relief camps, delivering medical aid, and bringing communication and travel back on line. Just as a real foothold is established in retaking the skies (utilizing existing commercial aircraft supplemented by military resources and ground control systems), a mysterious virus takes hold of the population, spreading globally over the very flight routes that the survivors fought so hard to rebuild.

Histoire4.5 out of 5 stars 53

Twenty years ago in the dead of night, four seemingly random individuals pulled the ultimate heist and almost walked away with half a million dollars. But by daybreak, their plan had been shot to hell. One of them was in the hospital. One was in jail. One was dead. And one got away with it. Arden Maxwell, the daughter of the man who disappeared all those years ago - presumably with the money, after murdering his accomplice - has never reconciled with her father's abandonment of her and her sister.

Histoire4.5 out of 5 stars 118

Physicist Philip Moray is having a good day. He’s chipping away at his big work project. The lunch in the cafeteria is at least edible. And he’s looking forward to his end-of-the-day drink and a soak in the hot tub. Then, a strange device turns up in his office. A piece of technology he has never seen before–and shouldn’t even exist. Suddenly, corpses start turning up, eco-activists go on the attack, random people suffer bizarre symptoms. And every time the authorities get a lead, it traces right back to Philip and his colleague, Celia Hunt.

The world’s food supply grows aggressively, occupying every inch of earth, no matter how inhospitable. World hunger is averted. Humanity flourishes. RC-714 is digested, absorbed…and passed on. The Change affects small fast-breeding mammals first. They multiply with the same aggressive speed as the ExoGen plants, but an insatiable hunger drives them to violence. A war between species breaks out. When RC-714 reaches humanity, along with every other large creature on the planet, civilization implodes.

Even before becoming a husband and father, safety had been Shane McDonald’s priority for most of his 45 years. As a nuclear engineer, it’s his responsibility to keep the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant functioning at optimum levels to avoid what protesters fear most: a meltdown. But when a coronal mass ejection from the sun wipes out power across the globe, stopping a nuclear chain reaction is no longer his primary concern.

Interesting twist on the zombie genre

epic read/listen
Un problème est survenu. Veuillez réessayer dans quelques minutes.
• Book One ('Jurassic Dead') - introduces the evil Melvin DeKirk (and his foils/our heroes eco-terrorist 'Alex Ramirez' and CIA agent 'Veronica Winters') in a story that starts out as a thoughtful SciFi tale about an apocalyptic virus freed from the Antarctic ice by thoughtless competitive Russian/American expeditioners.. but very quickly descends into the gory silliness of zombie dinosaurs escaped - infecting soldiers & scientists and wreaking havoc on DeKirk's secret island. Fortunately for readers, Chesler/Sakmyster settle into non-stop action - and I mean NON-STOP. The pacing is so relentless, in fact, that it's surprisingly easy to forget that the plot is hilariously thin and straight-up stoopid.
• In 'Z-volution' (Book Two), the authors document the spread of the zombie virus into the public and builds on the evil plan of DeKirk (now renamed 'William') to infect himself, develop a way to control the dinosaurs + zombies, assume the Presidency of the United States, and set himself up as the Lord of the entire planet - an Undead Antichrist if you will. The chaotic running firefight through the streets of Washington D.C. and down to CDC headquarters in Atlanta is a romp.
• Book Three ('Ctrl-Z') finds Alex + Veronica - now assisting former Secret Service officer/current rebel leader 'Major Remington' - separated but striving to get the Zombie cure to the remnants of the resistance to DeKirk's evil plan. Non-stop action on three fronts continues in the weakest book of the trilogy.
As to presentation: Reader Andrew Tell was a brilliant choice to read the books. His diction, timbre, and cadence are eminently professional - and his voice-acting is truly commendable - but it's his pitch-perfect tone that renders the performance "outstanding". Tell is somehow able to insert emotiveness into some genuinely laughable text. Rick Chesler Productions (yes, this audiobook was self-published) further introduces high-quality voice modulation for dialogue heard over the radio or on the telephone and exemplary sound editing. Except for the last chapter of Book Two, the recording is a great listen.
Altogether, it's very clear that these authors are never going to win any writing awards.. but the 'Jurassic Dead Box Set' rates 6.5 stars out of 10. With the proper mindset, the trilogy is a ton of entertainment - junk food that's horrible for your brain, but undeniably tasty. I feel fortunate that I got the compendium as a 'Daily Deal' because it's worth more than the $8.39CDN that I paid. Do Not make this stuff your go-to reading fare.. but spend the Credit.
Ludicrous Fun
