A Black Templars Audiobook

The Black Templars of the Second Dornean Crusade attempt to join the rest of their fleet to relieve a siege on the shrine world, Tempest. Thrown off course by a warp storm, and beset by doubt, can they cling to their faith and come to their brothers’ aid?

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

This story offers insight into the relationship the Black Templars have with faith, and their sense of destiny. Plus, there's always plenty of action when the followers of Khorne are involved.

THE STORY

On the fringes of the Cicatrix Maledictum, the Black Templars of the Second Dorean Crusade tear through the void to join the crusade fleet on the sands of Tempest – an ancient, storied shrine world. Assailed by the murderous warbands of the Blood God, the crusade has come to burn the planet clean of the Ruinous Powers once and for all.

But when a violent warp storm scatters the fleet, the Dauntless Honour is left battered and alone in the void. Besieged by doubt, Castellan Emeric and his brothers must cling to their faith and carve a way to Tempest. For it is there that their battles will truly begin, and the cost of victory may be more than even they are prepared to pay.

Any fan of black Templars should read this book it is excellent. The book really emphasizes faith and duty in a over the top black Templar’s way, and it is excellent for it.

Excellent, grim dark butt heartfelt story

pretty unmemorable story with several fairly interesting characters. Gives an interesting perspective on the black templars, but fairly stereotypical for the most part. Voice actor was good

Loved the narrator, wonderful voice acting and reading. More like this! Good story with a surprisingly well-crafted main character—I usually don’t like Black Templars, but this book makes you feel for them without trying to hide their zealotry.

Fantastic voice performance! Good story!

As a hardcore Black Templar fan, lore and tabletop wise, I was excited for this book. Although the story teasers themselves didn’t initially seem to draw me in fully.

The first three hours seemed a bit jumbled together and could have used a bit slower pacing but were still great. I think part of that may have been the speed the narrator was reading but I take in books at a slow pace.

As soon as the story moved to Tempest I was fully hooked. The Soulrender (warband name pending) was a fantastic villain, and the idea that the 8 daemons possessing him fought for control was super interesting.

Castellan Emeric was at first a character I was apprehensive about due to his clear tough space marine personality, but as he was fleshed out more his true nature showed and I grew to like him.

All of the little fluff bits for the Templars was perfect and matched all of the little things that intrigue me the most about their chapter.

I thought the whole massive daemon engine would play a larger role however so that was a tad disappointing but having it set up the Soulrenders plot line further was fine. I am personally glad it didn’t play a large part as I was more interested in the eventual fight between Dravic and Emeric.

Oh and thank you Steven Fisher for bringing back the Templars making the sign of the cross with their forearms! I look forward to your next story in the 40K universe!

9/10

Easily one of the best Templar books out there.

Good to hear a more in depth experience of Space marines and mortals. Voice actor really feels like an immortal hero of the imperium.

An instant classic

The atmosphere on this one exceptional. The language used in its writing creates a very engaging and memorable read that places the listener in the book and makes them feel invested in the struggles and futility of the characters. Special mention goes to the narrator, who might be the best I've heard in a Black Library novel. Overall, a great listen that is a must for die-hard fans. Five stars.

Excellent Stuff, Instant Classic.
