À propos de cet audio
From New York Times bestselling author Craig Alanson comes a thrilling new series that melds action-packed urban fantasy with his signature humor, read by none other than award-winning narrator R.C. Bray.
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet.
I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why?
I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know. I don’t have a wand or a sword, and I don’t ride a dragon. I carry a Glock, and drive around in a beat-up RV with a talking dog.
Yeah. The talking dog was a surprise to me, too. Duke is inhabited by the spirit of a 3,000-year-old wizard from Babylon, and he’s a good dog, but he is still a dog, and that’s a problem. Like, he still thinks squirrels are his mortal enemy. And that I don’t feed him enough. How did the spirit of a wizard reach across millennia, to our time? I don’t know.
The truth is, I’m not much of a wizard, because there’s not much magic in the world for me to work with. But there used to be magic. And magic is coming back as our world converges with the Nether.
Unless I can stop it.

The Wizard's Council of Tarador was supposed to tell young Koren Bladewell that he is a wizard. They were supposed to tell everyone that he is not a jinx, that all the bad things that happen around him are because he can't control the power inside him, power he doesn't know about. The people of his village, even his parents, are afraid of him, afraid he is cursed. That he is a dangerous, evil jinx.

A Secret Service operative and dedicated survivalist, Special Agent Del Roosevelt had a plan for every world-ending scenario and regularly trained for them all. Useless for the apocalypse that actually played out. Del wakes up half-buried in a giant trash pile, missing his thumbs. And, um, covered in red fur. The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Great series
My only issue was I'd often hear Joe Bishop instead of Kazimir Wolfe but other than that this book is great! Same great formula as Expeditionary Force. Happy to say Kaz becomes his own voice and personality by book 2.

Can Not Wait For More
Just finished listening and looks like its shaping up to be a good one. I will say do not go straight into this if you just listened to Expeditionary Force. One may start thinking of Kaz Wolfe to be a magical Joe Bishop. I would recommend listening to something else to reset your brain. With that being said, writing is great and narrator is awesome. 5 stars.

Its like Exforce but fantacy
I consumed book one reluctantly at the start but the farther I got the more entertaining it was until finishing the book in which I am hooked.
For fans of expeditionary force convergence is essentially a modern fantasy skin of X force. It has similar dynamics, similar explanations of crazy or simple ideas two characters whom have no idea, it’s got the witty banter back-and-forth. It’s got the silly references. It’s got a Skippyesk character. It’s got references to expeditionary force. Highly recommend recommended for any fan of Craig Alanson’s work.
I especially love to see how far Craig has come. He’s writing women and explaining how much bullshit they have to go through on a regular basis too, which is always appreciated.
The only negative is that perhaps he should be writing the word Native American or indigenous instead of Indian, but that is such a small negative really and I’m sure Craig fixes this in the later books because he’s always really good about being progressive and considerate of the people’s of whom he is writing about.

Great story, character development was a bit lacking
A great book from Craig again! After binging the entire Expeditionary Force series, I eagerly picked this up. I am happy that a lot of the things I loved about the writing of Expeditionary Force came through in this book! I felt the development of characters a bit lacking though. The characters travelling with Cas are undeveloped with lots of potential. However I feel that this will be similar to EF where the characters are introduced at a rate that lets you truly connect with the characters.
Overall, I loved it and am going to go listen to the next book like now.
