I dont know what happened to the MC, he was a fairly smart character who had a lot of drive, had good introspection, but this book it felt like he took many blows to the head and is now mentally stunted.
Main female character is not even remotely interested in this book, I feel like I listened to a completely different book series.

Man...I don't know who green lit this recording but they didn't do the book any favors. The narrator has noise canceling mic that cuts sharply at a certain volume and makes some dialog if not jarring then COMPLETELY incomprehensible.
The narrators choice to make Kais older voice sounds like a some west coast surfer or some skater boy only serves to add to his dumb naive golden retreaver bit. He went from an interesting and downtrodden yet talented kid in the first book to some bumbling beef boy who spares more criminals than Goku. Even the female companion who usually balances out the faults of the male MC in these types of books is also a humorless uninteresting bore.
The fights are boring, the plot is a slog to follow, and the narration so negativity affected my listen I might actually refund.
