It would be sheer folly to try to conceal the true nature of Althalus, for his flaws are the stuff of legend. He is, as all men know, a thief, a liar, an occasional murderer, an outrageous braggart, and a man devoid of even the slightest hint of honor. Yet of all the men in the world, it is Althalus, unrepentant rogue and scoundrel, who will become the champion of humanity in its desperate struggle against the forces of an ancient god determined to return the universe to nothingness.

Lifelong friends, they went their separate ways. Now they are together again, though each holds secrets from the others in his heart. They speak of a world shadowed with rumors of war. They speak of tales of strange monsters, creatures of myth, creatures of legend. They do not speak of their secrets. Not then. Not until a chance encounter with a beautiful, sorrowful woman, who bears a magical crystal staff, draws the companions deeper into the shadows, forever changing their lives and shaping the fate of the world.

Poor Narration But Great Story
- Écrit par Cheyene le 2018-07-25
Auteur(s): Margaret Weis, Autres
That said, Beierle is a capable narrator with a very pleasant baritone voice. He gives many characters distinct accents and tonal styles that suit their personalities — Velvet sounds appropriately sultry, Ce’Nedra and Garion youthful, Silk carries an accent, and Zakath has a deep, rough presence. His choices are consistent within his own interpretation.
For me, the challenge was continuity rather than performance quality. Keeping the same narrator throughout the series would have made for a smoother listening experience. Overall, this is still a solid narration, even if the transition requires adjustment.
I am sad this is the final book in the series.
