When I first learned that Reese Witherspoon and Harlan Coben were collaborating on a novel, I practically jumped out of my chair. As someone who’s devoured Coben's thrillers—as well as being a part of Reese's book club—this partnership was immediately one of my most-anticipated listens of the year. The medical thriller introduces listeners to Maggie McCabe, a former surgeon with extraordinary skills. Maggie is exclusively chosen to perform a discreet, unconventional medical procedure, and then finds herself thrust into a treacherous world in which her principles and survival instincts are put to the test. As if the author duo wasn’t enough, Reese also narrates along with an all-star cast featuring Chris Pine, Saskia Maarleveld, and James —Dawn G., Audible Editor

The performance was great, however, the story was full of scientific and medical exaggerations. It sounded like there was very surface level research on the medical and surgical parts and as a physician, I can say that the surgical exaggerations were quite annoying.

This was the first Fiction I've dove into in years. I heard Reese talking about the book on the Armchair Expert podcast and since I love her and am currently watching the Morning Show I decided to have a listen. It's a great story from start to finish. It's actually a book I'd love to read. Listening was great having the fantastic narrators they do. I highly recommend!

Had high hopes. The book started well, despite a main character being named pork chop. I was drawn in initially, but disappointed about 2/3 of the way through the book but finished it.

I was suprised at how the narration and the story line could not keep my interest...I was excited to get the book because of those involved and then nope. Normally I get very focused on the book I am listening to and this time...I found myself squirrelling and actually forgetting the book was playing. Sorry all involved...I will give this another shot in the future...but for now...just couldn't get into it.
