Editorial Review

Discretion is strongly advised
When I first learned that Reese Witherspoon and Harlan Coben were collaborating on a novel, I practically jumped out of my chair. As someone who’s devoured Coben's thrillers—as well as being a part of Reese's book club—this partnership was immediately one of my most-anticipated listens of the year. The medical thriller introduces listeners to Maggie McCabe, a former surgeon with extraordinary skills. Maggie is exclusively chosen to perform a discreet, unconventional medical procedure, and then finds herself thrust into a treacherous world in which her principles and survival instincts are put to the test. As if the author duo wasn’t enough, Reese also narrates along with an all-star cast featuring Chris Pine, Saskia Maarleveld, and James —Dawn G., Audible Editor

Super livre , histoire rocambolesque, personnages complexes et vraies. J’ai adoré tout simplement , c’était mon premier de Reese W et pas mon dernier.

Love it !!!

Enjoyed the narration by Reese and co. The character of Maggie is hard to warm to at first; she’s abrupt and cold. However, this makes sense given her clinical nature and the losses she’s experienced. In my imagination, I was picturing the character as being portrayed by Reese. Pork Chop is a gem of a character. The story although convoluted ties together well for the ending. Plenty of twists and turns and opened my eyes to evolution in medical procedures. Well worth the credit!

Reese & Harlan make a dynamic duo!

I found the storyline was far fetched and felt I didn't need to hear about the medical procedures in detail.

I forced myself to listen to the first few chapters as it felt like it was more live a play being read (which I don't enjoy). The book picked up for a bit and then dragged -- too many implausible things were happening.

The book tended to drag and there were different storylines that took a long time to come together. I felt the ending was flat and by the epilogue I just wanted it to be over.

It was ok
