À propos de cet audio
Lieutenant Jonathan Stride is suffering from an ugly case of deja vu. For the second time in a year, a beautiful teenage girl has disappeared off the streets of Duluth, Minnesota, gone without a trace, like a bitter gust off Lake Superior. The two victims couldn't be more different. First it was Kerry McGrath, bubbly, sweet 16. And now Rachel Deese, strange, sexually charged, a wild child. The media hounds Stride to catch a serial killer, and as the search carries him from the icy stillness of the northern woods to the erotic heat of Las Vegas, he must decide which facts are real and which are illusions. And Stride finds his own life changed forever by the secrets he uncovers. Secrets that stretch across time in a web of lies, death, and illicit desire. Secrets that are chillingly immoral.

"Who is Brian Freeman? This guy can tell a story. Immoral is a page-turner of the highest caliber. It has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end." (Michael Connelly)

Duluth PD Detective 'Jonathan Stride' (along with intriguing partner 'Maggie Bei') hunts down the perpetrator with admirable conviction and commendable intuition. Freeman also deftly includes significant character development - ensuring interest while offering a well-paced, balanced narrative.
Unfortunately, the plotting feels too meticulously planned & somewhat forced, the dialogue is often overdramatic, Freeman frequently includes explicit descriptions ("She spread the lips of her vagina and slid down on his cock"), and he is obviously preoccupied with sex in all circumstances (descriptions of females invariably include a comment on her breasts, for example).
More fortuitously, the narration from Joe Barrett is consummately professional. His diction, timbre, and cadence are excellent, for example. He overdoes the Minnesota accents to an annoying degree, but reads at a spot-on pace with an emotive tone. Blackstone Audio further provide commendable technical support - with flawless volume control, sound modulation, and splicing (this audiobook is equally enjoyable on speakers or with headphones).
Overall - considering a combination of so-so writing and largely creditable narration - this is a "decent" effort. I give 'Immoral' 6.5 stars out of 10. It was a reasonable distraction for a couple of snowy afternoons - and if you can get the recording as part of your subscription as I did - it's definitely worth a download. There are undoubtedly better options available, but it may still be a wise choice if they ask for a Credit
