Description

(Minor spoiler and warning at the bottom of the blurb. Please read all the way through.)

Sameerixis, or Sam for those who actually know him, isn’t what you’d call normal.

He’s a door-to-door salesman, of sorts. One that peddles wares, wishes, and whims to anyone willing to pay his prices.

Prices that usually involve a few years of your life, maybe a handful of days, or a single night of pleasure that’ll cost a few hours.

He’s an incubus that solves problems. Mental, emotional, spiritual, material, and anything and everything in between. Sam can provide an answer and resolution.

A one-man shop and service provider.

Or he was. When he had work available to him.

Unfortunately, he’s been unable to work for quite a while, due to the simple fact that he’s been imprisoned against his will by an old business partner.

Except something’s changed.

A portal, a way back to the planes, has opened with his name on it. On the other side isn’t what he wished for nor what he feared.

Sam’s made the choice to go back and start up his business again. From the ground up. In just a moment he’ll make that leap over and into another plane.

Little does he know that with that first step he’ll move straight from the known, to the unknown, then to the inadvisable.

Warning: This novel explores dark subjects, and what people will give up of themselves, and each other, to get what they want. The main character is written as a demon from another plane in a tough situation, and will not make choices that line up with societal and cultural norms.

It contains adult themes and moral ambiguities.

As with my previous work, explicit scenes are found within. It has violence and a harem relationship.

Fun!

This was completely different from what i was expecting, and I'm so glad! this book was amazing. I went in less then excited because it sounded like more fostering faust (which are grate but not my thing) I loved this book, I loved how the main character thinks, I love his decisions, and for someone who is not human he is rather identifiable.

Sams inconsistencies hurt the story (spoilers)

Based on the description I expected a version of Needful Things but this was definitely not that, not even close. The story is interesting and Sam's harem definitely has some likeable characters (although the best one doesn't join until the last chapter or so). I did like the Robin Hood aspects of the story even if they are just a thin plot device so Sam can get his revenge (which he wants one minute then can absolutely live without the next). A couple of other issues with the story are the fact that Sam only seems to know two positions when it comes to sex (isn't he a sex demon?), almost everyone of the women reacts with the exact same reluctance when it comes to sleeping with Sam even though they know he is an incubus and the fact that I was more surprised when they actually did kill someone than didn't (every woman he meets is ready to betray her old life to sign up with him except the one woman who us written as reprehensible/disliked--guess which one dies?). I had some issues with the heist and the raid as well but those are personal and don't really impact the story. Also, I hate Irma. Hate her. Abby is a much better support character and the blood of his beloved. Sam's relationship with Irma makes my brain hurt. Andrea Parsneau did a fantastic job as narrator and was the reason I picked up the book. Upon review it looks like I disliked this book, I didn't. I gave it 4 stars and I am interested in checking out the sequel because I did enjoy it.

Surprising.

Much more than I expected based on the title and cover. Yes, it does get adult, but there is much more here too. I've been very satisfied by both Randi Darren and Andrea Parsneau in the past, so this was a guaranteed purchase for me. However, I did not have particularly high expectations for the story overall. I knew it'd be fun, but not that I'd truly develop an interest in the characters and their futures. Now, there is plenty of what you'd expect in a book about an Incubus, but it honestly makes light of itself, and the concept of this sort of story, about as much as it leans into it. Each encounter either adds to the character's depths or brings something new into the story. It is not only well done, but I am both pleasantly surprised and looking forward to more.

P.S.
There are hints of other stories the author has written, but nothing that a new reader would miss out on if they have yet to experience Randi's other books. Something to look forward to, if you do end up enjoying this one. Also William D. Arand books, which also contain relationships, but don't go into the details that Randi Darren books do.

Reversed nature

Wonderful story, was kind of worried it'd be along the lines of Fostering Faust since it's another of his dark themed books, but it was rather surprising, touched on one of my favorite themes. Who says the shadows can't be protective, that darkness can't seek out evil, that only light can be good?

Couldn't do it.

Before I start, I will say that I couldn't finish this book. I kept stopping and starting for lack of interest and boredom. I got about 1/3 of they way through before throwing in the towel. This book is boring. I like William D. Arrand/Randi Darren, but wow, this is by far his worst work.

First off the main character is uninteresting and is one dimensional. The way he is set up makes him doomed from the start. A character that needs sex to do anything gets old very fast. All of the ladies in the story have some intriguing quality that just falls flat and disappoints the more they showcase

The plot is rather simple, build power. That's it. There is some mention of an antagonist, but they are so irrelevant it isn't worth mentioning. There was also a very forced tie into Swing Shift that was kinda cool.

Andrea Parsneau was her usual great self. She can't carry a poorly written story though.

Edit: Second worst work

Incubus Inc

Read the book enjoyed it but DAMN did Andrea take it to another level. She makes it so you get sucked into the story. Randi provided the storyboard do you can Feel the Incubus when read by Andrea. At times that's good, other times it can be frustrating because you feel the character's frustration and his pleasure.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK 😱😨😱... 😑

I don't understand why the fuck this isn't a five-part book series the writing was fantastic the Supernatural characters were excellent and mythologically very accurate a small amount of the voice acting work needed a little bit of help, but just because some voices don't need to be growly all the time. Other than that excellent story great, sex scenes wonderful, action scenes fucking fantastic, character development incredible, why the hell once again is this not like a five-part book series or at least a trilogy ?!?!? Randi Darren get your head out your ass and start writing.

Stale Narrator and Story

Same old Randi and William story style in a different wrapper. Andrea's performance is OK, but all of these books just run together at this point because her performance is very repetitive.

I feel that all of his books are going down this path. If he would slow down and take a little more time to clear his head the stories might be a little fresher.

I was not ready for how amazing it is

Wow just wow if you can tolerate epic sex scenes and a world of absolute glory then listen. If you enjoy any of the other books from this author you will enjoy this. I was not ready and i put off this book because i wasint sure an incubus would be something i would enjoy but to be blunt. This is now one of my favorite series of all time.

Another hit

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great start to another series by one of my favorite authors. I look forward to seeing how the series connects with the universe. If you like any other of Randi Darren's books you'll love this one too. Andrea Parsneau once again does an awesome job with the narration.

surprised

As always Andrea parsneau delivers a beautiful performance. The setting was quite good and some of the scenarios where awesome for example witch hunter Vera is a thought that I've always wanted to see fleshed-out *spoilers* she is which hunter that is burning in hell for all the killing of witches *spoilers end* which leads me to why I was surprised I did not find myself enjoying this book as much as this authors other books a lot of that has to do with how Sam is treated by the female cast. more often than not when I start this author books I understand that the main character will end up as a doormat for the female cast but with an understanding that the partnership is equal ,this time around it just felt like the main character wasn't allowed to have any say in any decisions and was little more then a decoration. one example *spoilers*halfway through the book he decided to take care of a loose end but Jess his female succubus went against that and partnered her to his harem while expecting him to be happy about it. a couple of chapters later on when he decides to take a new partner to his harem basically the same scenario, but he is treated with disdain for it until the end of the book.*spoilers end* the main character is described as this super overpowered planar Lord but he just ended up being treated as a wish-granting dildo with a bank account by the end of it all.

Felt flat

Had a hard time trying to get through the first few chapters and had to put it down. Main character felt one dimensional. I get it he's an Incubus, they crave sex, but it felt like the author was beating a dead horse about that. Writing style felt very rudimentary. Hate to say it but I've read erotica that has better plot.
