Overall great story!

My only negative is the writing could be better and often over explains things, but the world L.M. Kerr created is great and will keep me coming back! looking forward to book 3.

Wow!!

My eyes flashed as I noticed this audiobook. I had really liked the first, so my eyes flashed with excitement as I saw that there was a second. Even better, it was a chunker compared to the first! My eyes flashed with regret as I saw the time ticking down. I did not want this book to end. My eyes flashed with sadness as it ended, but I found the overall experience very enjoyable. My eyes flash with anticipation as I eagerly await the next installment.

What a beautiful and worthy continuation of the story

This book was a incredible, film of awesome powers, amazing plans. I can’t wait for the next book if there is one book you pick up get this one. Weather you’re a fan of fantasy or LitRPG books or both get this it is well thought out and well paced. Would highly recommend this book for all ages.

not great but not bad

well, I like the story, the narrator, and the writing. thing is, event though the writing is quality.... well the author took and ENTIRE CHAPTER to describe one fight sequence. when you are going thru a right sequence, it's an action movie. you want fast paced. you want a hot, instense, heart pounding story. you don't want a time jump to explain how he did something. that's okay... if you didn't change character views twice and retell everything that just happened from another point of view. so tldr, good story, bad flow at times.

Amazing listen from beginning to end

Story is rich and very immersive, narrator does a factastic job, can't wait for the saga to continue. The MC is strong but not invincible relying on his wits and knowledge to gain an advantage, If you like isekai and fantasy but want something more serious than a typical hero harem, give this book series a try; I'm certain you will enjoy it.

Interesting Story, Horrid Writing

All I can say is that I am incredibly disappointed in the waste of potential exemplified by this series. The narrator performed the story with truly heroic professionalism despite the absolute dreck that is the source material, and it really does pain me to call it dreck; the concepts the author explored and world they built are genuinely interesting. In the end, they alone are what kept me listening through nearly 40 hours of performance. The only glaring shortcoming of the series as of this volume, and the one which is unforgivably damning, is the writing. Though, perhaps there are more and the writing was simply poor enough to mask them. As such, do not pick this up if you read above a 6th grade level. I have read more competently written fanfiction produced by Jr. High School students. If you removed all the gratuitous multi-adjective description, pointless over/re- explanation of events and concepts explicit in dialogue and action, and self-indulgent, preening external monologue, the remaining content would probably produce 6 hours of narration. That wasted time could have been spent on strong description, wordbuilding, and relationship-focused dialogue. Instead the characters interact as if they've only ever had the concepts of friendship and community described to them over the phone by someone who learned about them from old martial arts movies. Finally, if I ever hear another "Slightly," "Somewhat," or "Mildly," I may have a coronary. L. M. Kerr, WRITE WITH A LITTLE CONVICTION. You are allowed to have a character express an opinion, state the result of an action, or describe a trait without having to deminish it. I swear, it's like you wrote this with someone behind you who beat you every time you expressed anything but a suggestion. I was glad to read via the author's Facebook page that the Kerr is taking time to "Re-work" volume 3 before releasing volume 4. Perhaps some of these issues will be resolved. Either way, I will not be giving this series a third chance.

performance is fantastic!

narrator while a little weak with the some of the voices, did a fantastic job with every other character and had different tones. attitude and accent. made distinguishing between the many characters, narration parts easily distinguishable. onto the content and book itself. this is a LITRPG so expect stats, numbers, etc. it's not to everyone's tastes. also the author does explain things multiple times throughout the book which can be a bit annoying but sounds like he was trying to do a introduction to people who may not have read/listened to litrpgs or many fantasy books before. story is well done and excited for the next one.

I can’t complain about anything in this book. I recommend to anyone who likes fantasy books. The narrator just nails it

Telling instead of Showing. Always.

I really want to love these books. The world is awesome, the premise cool, the litrpg elements pretty interesting... But man it's a slog. Even the exposition has exposition. Fight scenes can last for an hour as the author painstakingly explains every little bit of minutiae to such an extreme that I ended up skipping. A lot. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I day around 40% of the book feels like bloat. Instead of describing the fight scene as it happens, the author will not only describe every millisecond in extreme detail, but he'll then explain the reason for every decision made, its strengths, its weaknesses, why it's possible, how its possible, the steps taken to make sure it'll work and on and on and on... It's just way too much. A skilled editor would cut a lot out of this story and make it flow much more smoothly... I'm interested enough to see where the story goes next, but I foresee more skipping in future installments.

Becoming my favorite series.

This series has quickly turned into my favorite litrpg series. I’ve noticed many reviews calling the way the author explains the fights as”painfully detailed”. I strongly disagree. Because the MC is under powered and working on such a tight time frame he has to plan out every action using years of skill to win his fights if just barely. Which in turn is explained. If he was just fighting on par with everyone and everything with less of an explanation it wouldn’t make sense.

good story but one major flaw in the narration

you dont have to put disgusting swallowing sounds in when the author writes that mv swallowed a glass of water. had to stop listening for a bit to recover from that horror.

Good story, but to verbose

The story is great like the first book. the issue is how wordy and repetitive the book can get. I found myself sometime hitting the skip button once or twice per chapter (sometimes more) due to how verbose it got. you could literally cut 5 to 7 hours and have a more enjoyable book. I just hope this issue is fixed like the author did in book 1 (for when I reread). I also hope this isnt an issue with future books. 3/5 stars until fixed

Best litrpg on market

All of these other litrpgs are trash fantasies focusing on harems and unrational characters. Reborn apoc series is something refreshing and exciting to indulge, narrator is also very good cant wait for book 3.

Enough with everything!

While the first book suffers from slow pacing, constant retelling of the uses of every single item/ability/stat/etc and the voice of the narrator being completely wrong for the character, it had at least some consistency and logic with the world and character’s actions. Now, throw that entirely out for this one. Not only is the book slower, somehow, in getting anything done, but character’s make stupid decisions that makes no sense. Spoilers, (I am only halfway through, but I can’t go any further with this series) There are constant contrivances where things are clearly needed to happen. Micheal’s decision to shot the traitorous Angel members starts a bunch of things that otherwise wouldn’t have happened. In the first book, when he shot Xavier, at least the guy killed already. Next, the Black Flag pirates attacked him, even though he repaired for it. Now, he not only killed the Angel Traitor, but somehow decided the best way to avoid the war between the Dragon Slayers and Arabian Knights was to fight them, despite the order of non-combat from the Angels Arcadia? Why wouldn’t he just say he was with The Godfather’s and split them up, talking it with each? Why on earth with the leader of the Angels Arcadia throw out a direct report from one of his generals about someone betraying? Why in the hell would Micheal sneak into an important tower of The Godfather Organization, knowing the cost, and not just walk in using his name to the guards, when he is already stated to be an ally of them, and having his name otherwise be unimportant? While Shen saving the Leader of The Godfather makes sense, why would he join them, after being told to lay low? Why were the numbers’ first move NOT to grab Sophia, instead attacking the brigadier? Their mission was to get her, and not start fights because they were in someone else’s territory. If the excuse was that he (6) wanted a fight, then why didn’t he fight the brigadier, who they would have assumed was Micheal? If they didn’t assume it was him, why attack someone who, at the very least, should have been known as someone important, who might have caused them to get into a war with The Godfather Organization anyway? Why not use the network to communicate, at least every few days or so? Micheal knew Shen’s named thread, and was in the area several times and days, but only checked it AFTER he found out his friend is injured? So much of the plot requires shit to happen that otherwise shouldn’t have. Micheal killing the traitor woman how he did locks off the Angel Arcadia to him, despite him supposedly needing them. Him not communicating with Shen and Sophia means they are attacked without him there. The leader of Arcadia literally saying fuck that info causes them to communicate with the Night Runners in the first place, instead of him calling them out for poaching one of his own people. Micheal attacking the Arabian Knights and Dragon Slayers not only made his abilities public, but also is likely to cause him to likely lose favor with The Godfather Organization, if he isn’t caught going through their Intelligence Tower. He made moves in the first book to gain allies, but it seems like every action he’s taken in this book is to make enemies, literally the opposite.

Great read if you like wuxia novels Or fantasy

It’s a great read. It reminds me of a few wuxia novels that I love. Wish audible would get more. They are great I am happy that the second one came out I bought it the day. And if they every bring them over I might go broke. Bc of how majestic they are. Now I have to wait for the 3 one to be out. Just saying audible you are missing out on tons of money from these wuxia books. And if you wish to read more wuxia books there are free sites that will open a new world of ideas and culture.

Actually tried to make this book a tad too cool

Quick review. Love the story and narrator. Only nitpicking I can do is there is a lot of times when we have the same situation happen from multiple viewpoints trying to show how epic the moment is from different perspectives. I personally like this but it was used a little too much in the beginning of this book. Also too much explaining about how a situation occurred. It's like your treating everyone reading the book as five year olds who couldn't follow any of the book to realize how something happened.

2nd Installment is Worthy Too

This second in the series didn’t disappoint! I listened in every spare moment, which is a shame because now we need to wait a year (?) for Michael’s adventures on the second layer.

not bad but fights last to long

the story isn't bad but I think the author has watched to much dragon ball where fights last 4 -5 episodes with everyone having to explain all their moves in exacting detail
