Description

From the New York Times best-selling author of The Proposal and a "rising star in the romance genre" (Entertainment Weekly) comes a dazzling new novel about a spontaneous holiday vacation that turns into an unforgettable romance.

Vivian Forest has been out of the country a grand total of one time, so when she gets the chance to tag along on her daughter Maddie’s work trip to England to style a royal family member, she can’t refuse. She’s excited to spend the holidays taking in the magnificent British sights, but what she doesn’t expect is to become instantly attracted to a certain private secretary, his charming accent, and unyielding formality.

Malcolm Hudson has worked for the Queen for years and has never given a personal, private tour - until now. He is intrigued by Vivian the moment he meets her and finds himself making excuses just to spend time with her. When flirtatious banter turns into a kiss under the mistletoe, things snowball into a full-on fling.

Despite a ticking timer on their holiday romance, they are completely fine with ending their short, steamy affair come New Year’s Day...or are they?

I need Idris Alba to be Malcom in this movie!

Jasmine, you did it again! What can I say? I want to bring my husband to England; pretend we just met and re-enact this book. This story was a perfect kick start to the holidays. It has captured the joy of the season, while keeping fresh the ideas of what a new year brings. As always, I love the touch back/connection to characters from the book prior (Maddie & Theo <3). May we all eat a scone this season and toast to doing more of what makes us happy!

super cute story

Well written and fun to listen to. The narrator's British accent is not good but that doesn't alter the listening experience. A very nice feel -good novel. I recommend.

The Poor British narration hurt my ears

The story is sweet, but opted to read the book instead. I wish they used a male narrator to do the British dialogue or made Janina do some training on the accent. I just couldn’t listen to it.

Bizarre narrator choice

If you are casting an actor to read a book set in London, where half of the characters are British, you think you’d cast an actor who can do an English accent. I winced every time she read the lines of the male lead character. It’s rough going.

FYI: Not a Clean Romance

The story and characters were okay, though i felt at times the author treats the readers like idiots and repeats her point too often, but then it got trashy. I know some people are into that, but I want to warn those who are looking for a Hallmark Christmas movie in a book that this isn't it!

Social Work love story

I was happy to know the main character, Vivian, was a social worker... that’s not something you see often. (I’m a social worker myself) great story telling very vivid almost cried when they parted from her initial 4 day stay! Awesome writing and storytelling!

Grown up romance for grown up people.

I loved the naturity of the writing and the story. This was a grown up romance and it was refreshing. The characters weren't too sappy, and the story progressed in fun but realistic way.

Sweet story, not so great narration

I loved this story and I want to read more from this author. My heart was soaring throughout. But this narrator is clearly not an actor. The inflections of tone were SO unrealistic, like she’s used to reading children’s books. I found myself repeating the dialog in my head so that I could picture it better. But again, super sweet story.

amazing journey

The author brings together mother- daughter relationships, later in life relationships, work- life balance and travel brilliantly. She also successfully includes the importance of non-traditional family roles and adults who choose not to have children. The narrator was great and drew me in. I will definitely re listen next year.

Lovely

This features Maddie's mother, Vivian, and Malcolm, a Brit who is the Queen's private Secretary. They meet when Maddie and Vivian go to England for Maddie to style the Duchess. I enjoyed this; romance is not just for the young.
