Description
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Proposal and a "rising star in the romance genre" (Entertainment Weekly) comes a dazzling new novel about a spontaneous holiday vacation that turns into an unforgettable romance.
Vivian Forest has been out of the country a grand total of one time, so when she gets the chance to tag along on her daughter Maddie’s work trip to England to style a royal family member, she can’t refuse. She’s excited to spend the holidays taking in the magnificent British sights, but what she doesn’t expect is to become instantly attracted to a certain private secretary, his charming accent, and unyielding formality.
Malcolm Hudson has worked for the Queen for years and has never given a personal, private tour - until now. He is intrigued by Vivian the moment he meets her and finds himself making excuses just to spend time with her. When flirtatious banter turns into a kiss under the mistletoe, things snowball into a full-on fling.
Despite a ticking timer on their holiday romance, they are completely fine with ending their short, steamy affair come New Year’s Day...or are they?

Good story
Even though I enjoyed the story, I can't say the same about the narrator... the first word of every sentence is cut off making hard to understand what she said. no distinction between male and female voices, narration felt flat...

Crappier than a Hallmark movie
Ugh why was this so ugh. This book was ugly. The writing was ugly and the characters were shallow. The thought process of these characters were just so boring.

Accents were so bad I couldn’t finish it
The narrator in this book was so awful that I couldn’t even finish the book. The supposedly English accents were appallingly bad. I will be returning this book for a refund.

I need Idris Alba to be Malcom in this movie!
Jasmine, you did it again!
What can I say? I want to bring my husband to England; pretend we just met and re-enact this book. This story was a perfect kick start to the holidays. It has captured the joy of the season, while keeping fresh the ideas of what a new year brings. As always, I love the touch back/connection to characters from the book prior (Maddie & Theo <3). May we all eat a scone this season and toast to doing more of what makes us happy!

Well written and fun to listen to. The narrator's British accent is not good but that doesn't alter the listening experience. A very nice feel -good novel. I recommend.

The Poor British narration hurt my ears
The story is sweet, but opted to read the book instead. I wish they used a male narrator to do the British dialogue or made Janina do some training on the accent. I just couldn’t listen to it.

FYI: Not a Clean Romance
The story and characters were okay, though i felt at times the author treats the readers like idiots and repeats her point too often, but then it got trashy. I know some people are into that, but I want to warn those who are looking for a Hallmark Christmas movie in a book that this isn't it!

Bizarre narrator choice
If you are casting an actor to read a book set in London, where half of the characters are British, you think you’d cast an actor who can do an English accent. I winced every time she read the lines of the male lead character. It’s rough going.

Good story if you can get past the accent
This was a nice story and it was pretty well done, entertaining and heartwarming. The narrator made me believe that she was a 50-something woman of color. Also true is that this was probably the worst British accent I've ever heard attempted. It was a strange mix sounding of German, English and perhaps West Indian, something...I actually chuckled and wondered if the narrator had never seen BBC or PBS, even if just to prepare for this role? The writing was pretty good but I had to also grapple with confusion about the usage of words like "him" instead of "he" and "at" instead of "with", throughout the story. Professional book editors may not exist anymore. This was a nice use of time though and the book was a relaxing, happy tale. It's worth your time if you don't take it too seriously.

amazing journey
The author brings together mother- daughter relationships, later in life relationships, work- life balance and travel brilliantly. She also successfully includes the importance of non-traditional family roles and adults who choose not to have children. The narrator was great and drew me in. I will definitely re listen next year.

Grown up romance for grown up people.
I loved the naturity of the writing and the story. This was a grown up romance and it was refreshing. The characters weren't too sappy, and the story progressed in fun but realistic way.

Difficult to listen
First - I loved the “twist” in the storyline that made it about the mother!! However, there was a major problem that almost had me stop listening!!! The British accent made it difficult to listen!!! She has a wonderful tone to her reading and was very pleasant in her American accent. I wish she would have not tried to move out of it!! It made it so hard to want to finish the book!!!

Lovely
This features Maddie's mother, Vivian, and Malcolm, a Brit who is the Queen's private Secretary. They meet when Maddie and Vivian go to England for Maddie to style the Duchess. I enjoyed this; romance is not just for the young.
