Description

The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.

Now the nation's fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.

Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.

Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova's amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling's secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction - and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for. Ruin and Rising is the thrilling final installment in Leigh Bardugo's Grisha Trilogy.

witty banter queen

I took a break from this series and never found time to read this last one so I finally gave up on actually reading it and just got the audiobook and I'm SO glad I did. the narrator was fantastic and I forgot how much I love leigh bardugos writing! she is a queen at inserting witty banter and making me laugh when all seems lost in her worlds.

Weak "heroine"

A series about a selfish girl who continuously chooses the life of a boy over the fate of the world.

The narrators voice..

The narrators voice was so distracting her lisp?? Or just the way her voice ends a word. I couldn't handle it. I cringe through.. skipping ahead just to know the conclusion. It wasn't as prominent in the earlier books. The story was good but I was more just distracted.

Frustrating Disappointment

I could get through it. So that's something. The characters are NOT believable at all!

Bleh

I tried to enjoy the characters but couldn’t care less what happened to them in the end. The Darkling and Nikolai who brought a spark to the book were far and in between.

This story is not super special, but it's ok.

I feel like Sarah Maas writes very similarly, but I prefer her stories over these.

Better, worse

Better than the first book in the trilogy, not nearly as good as her second series.

Easily my favorite series

There is just something so captivating about the Grishaverse. Every character is well developed, relatable, & you find yourself caring about them. I have relistened to this trilogy 3 times now, & always discover something I missed, or just appreciating the details & magic of the story. Leigh creates a world unlike any we know, but parallels the struggles & themes that we find in the world & in our own relationships. I wish I was a Grisha!

Good book, but a little heavy on the ache in the protagonist’s heart.

I enjoyed the book (and the previous ones), but I do wish the main character did not have to stop every 5 minutes to search her soul or pine for someone in EVERY book. The plot is very good and the use of magic was great. Ultimately, a good buy. It just could have been better.

A wonderful journey

A beautiful ending to an epic journey that kept my (mostly) undivided attention for hours a day. I listened to the entire trilogy in just 4 days. Saints! What am I to do with myself now?

Off to read Six of Crows...
