À propos de cet audio
Greta Helsing inherited her family's highly specialized and highly peculiar medical practice. In her consulting rooms, Dr. Helsing treats the undead for a host of ills: vocal strain in banshees, arthritis in barrow-wights, and entropy in mummies. Although she barely makes ends meet, this is just the quiet, supernatural-adjacent life Greta's been groomed for since childhood.
Until a sect of murderous monks emerges, killing human and undead Londoners alike. As terror takes hold of the city, Greta must use her unusual skills to stop the cult if she hopes to save her practice and her life.
Praise for the Dr. Greta Helsing Novels:
"An exceptional and delightful debut, in the tradition of Good Omens and A Night in the Lonesome October."―Elizabeth Bear, Hugo-award winning author
"Shaw balances an agile mystery with a pitch-perfect, droll narrative and cast of lovable misfit characters. These are not your mother's Dracula or demons."―Shelf Awareness

In a warren of crumbling buildings and desperate people called the Old City, there stands a hospital with cinderblock walls that echo the screams of the poor souls inside. In the hospital, there is a woman. Her hair, once blond, hangs in tangles down her back. She doesn't remember why she's in such a terrible place. Just a tea party long ago, and long ears, and blood.

Demeter just wants to do her job: shuttling humans between Earth and Alpha Centauri. Unfortunately, her passengers keep dying—and not from equipment failures, as her AI medical system, Steward, would have her believe. These are paranormal murders, and they began when one nasty, ancient vampire decided to board Demeter and kill all her humans. To keep from getting decommissioned, Demeter must join forces with her own team of monsters. Together, this motley crew will face down the ultimate evil—Dracula.

Ce que les critiques en disent
Greta and her supernatural characters are all very easy to like, though I didn’t feel they got a ton of development. The book seemed to focus on the different bonds they had with each other, which is great for any reader looking for a book filled with strong friendships. There is also the start of a romantic plot line that will likely be furthered in later books.
The story is easy to follow and just complicated enough to pose danger to our heroes. Even with all manner of supernatural creatures inside the pages, the threat becomes very real the closer our heroes get to it.
STRANGE PRACTICE is a short book that can be enjoyed over an autumn weekend and is great for anyone looking to indulge in urban fantasy and the supernatural.

This book is the literary equivalent of someone promising you a four course meal at a Michelin Star restaurant and getting taken to the McDonald's drive-through. The characters are so painfully underwhelming that a plot that should, in theory, be high stakes and fast paced and full of intrigue, plods dutifully along until its inevitable and predictable conclusion. There were no twists and turns, I never felt like the characters might not reach their goal or like they were having interesting relationships with each other. I can't quite put my finger on what went wrong but it really was such a slog. Next time, I'm going to trust the reviews and give up after the first half of a book wastes my time.
Boring, like the reviews warned me about
