This was well researched and interesting but I was disappointed by so much summarizing in the last few chapters. Pieces of it were rushed and brushed over and some character actions and reactions weren’t credible.
I loved The Lost Apothecary and this one felt like it could have been awesome but needed another draft.

I have read all Sarah Penner’s books and this is the only one I have not cared for. It just doesn’t have the same “ah ha” moment like the other do. If this was the first book I read of hers I wouldn’t pick up another one. Maybe she was rushed into finishing this one? The story just didn’t seem developed enough.

Saskia Maarleveld is such a brilliant narrator! She is part of what drew me to this story. I did feel she should have narrated the other characters’ chapters as well. I enjoyed the story - always do with Sarah Penner!
