Description

With the third temple restored, Ruwen must now prevent an imminent invasion of the southern border.

But Ruwen’s new city is in shambles. If he doesn’t quickly fortify the walls and revive an army capable of stopping his enemies, he has no chance of surviving the coming onslaught.

Running out of time and facing a lack of resources, Ruwen is forced to bargain for allies and take an unwanted new class. He fears the dire situation makes these preparations pointless, and his failure will doom the entire country.

As the war begins, he learns a devastating lesson: Uru isn’t the only god peering into the future, and his grim circumstances turn hopeless.

Overshadowing everything is the fourth secret, and the dreadful fact it reveals makes Ruwen consider forsaking his destiny.

Because with a future this bleak, dying now might be his best option.

Another Great Book!!

I absolutely love the DA series and have been following it since I stumbled onto it on Kindle and it has never let me down. Book 4 is filled with loot, questing, and secrets revealed. I enjoyed every moment of it and can't wait for book 5! Travis Baldree did another excellent job narrating and I hope he continues to do the next.

Fantastic

I loved it. I love how each book completed the story line. you're still excited about and anticipating the next book, but aren't aggravated by serious cliffhangers.

new characters are great additions. I appreciate the journey and explanations for the MC's powering up, while also keeping his immense power and tools at bay. I also love how the group has this fun banter between them, and that the author allows each of them to shine. it makes the team effort believable.

Travis Baldree is so incredible. He brings to life any thing he touches. Bravo!

Good progression

I appreciate that the scale of events continues to increase while maintaining engaging characters.

I'm really hoping the series delivers on foreshadowed events.

BEGIN RANT:

I really just dropped in to ask the author to limit the stats and explanations when the story needs to progress. Specifically, when the party was going on a recon and first setting off, the MC buffed up and it took forever before the story moved forward. Every buff, every stat that was increased, every explanation for what the stat did, how it impacted his abilities, some introspection about insecurities and worries, and then (probably) an overall run down of the his stat sheet post buffs and increases. I’m all for crunchy…I love some stats and explanations on how the magic/ability systems work. I also understand the identity of the MC is an intellectual who overthinks everything, and most likely these calculations happen within a fraction of the time the author writes them in (or he’d be dead constantly), but there’s a point when it drags on and on; especially during action sequences. Sometimes action should take precedent over explanation. If we’ve been listening this far, we understand how his abilities work. When you spend time dropping stat points into skills and explaining how each and every one of those skills will work for him when he eventually uses them, do you really need to repeat it when he actually uses them in combat or while moving the story forward? Just explain them when he obtains them, and then use them after that without explanation. It causes the listener to skip forward to finally get to the scene. It was like, “The party exited the tower. MC buffs up. (explanations ensue for what felt like ten minutes or an entire chapter). Dialogue begins again and team departs the location.” It’s getting a little brutal as the characters’ abilities and skills grow to a large number with level increases. RANT COMPLETE.

Now that that’s out of the way. Phenomenal 4th installment. I absolutely love this series. In it’s genres, I’d rank it just below Will Wight’s ‘Cradle’ series. TB continues to the the GOAT. Spend the credit.

A good addition to the series

Well written, immediately disappointed the next one is not yet available. Will preorder when it’s up. Setup the next book nicely with feeling of anticipation of what comes next, without a frustrating cliffhanger.

I enjoy the story line

I love the characters in this novel! The one thing that irks me the most, however, is the pronunciation by Travis of library and ingenuity. He says “lieberry “ and “inguhnuity “(hard g like got, not the softer g like gee). Everytime I hear those words, I am thrown out of the story. I still love Travis’s character voices and he does a wonderful job. Can someone please let him know library has two “r” sounds? Puleeeeze;)
