À propos de cet audio

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Two women haunted by their sisters’ unsolved disappearances band together in this captivating mystery from the author of All Good People Here and host of the #1 true crime podcast Crime Junkie.

“A propulsive mystery with excellent writing . . . Simply a great read!”—Gillian Flynn, author of Gone Girl

Nicole “Nic” Monroe is in a rut. At twenty-four, she lives alone in a dinky apartment in her hometown of Mishawaka, Indiana, she’s just gotten a DWI, and she works the same dead-end job she’s been working since high school, a job she only has because her boss is a family friend and feels sorry for her. Everyone has felt sorry for her for the last seven years—since the day her older sister, Kasey, vanished without a trace.

On the night Kasey went missing, her car was found over a hundred miles from home. The driver’s door was open and her purse was untouched in the seat next to it. The only real clue in her disappearance was Jules Connor, another young woman from the same area who disappeared in the same way, two weeks earlier. But with so little for the police to go on, both cases eventually went cold.

Nic wants nothing more than to move on from her sister’s disappearance and the state it’s left her in. But then one day, Jules’s sister, Jenna Connor, walks into Nic’s life and offers her something she hasn’t felt in a long time: hope. What follows is a gripping tale of two sisters who will do anything to find their missing halves, even if it means destroying everything they’ve ever known.

Editorial Review

Don’t even try to guess
I made the mistake (actually, it’s a habit of mine) of trying to figure this thriller out about two pairs of sisters who join forces to each find their missing sister. Oh, did I mention there are no bodies? Could they have been kidnapped and living in pure hell? Ashley Flowers sure knows her way around twists. Leads go nowhere fast. Every now and then she throws something promising the listeners’ way and takes it back, or leads you one way that’s the wrong way. She’s also quite the narrator along with uber-talented Saskia Maarleveld. What is very touching about this story is the power of sisterhood and its unbreakable bond. —Yvonne D., Audible Editor

Listened to this in just a couple days because it kept me guessing, and I loved unexpected twist!

Kept me guessing!

Just when I thought I had it figured out….i had to rework the clues.

Loved it

It took me a while to warm up to the raspy low voice of the main narrator. It's not the type of female voice I want to listen to. The story is very good and kept my attention the whole time. Not a lot of meandering through the character's minds, which is generally when my mind wanders. Most of the words serve the plot so that was good for me.

Didn't love the narrator

It had a great twist at the end but I enjoyed her first book better. I feel like there’s something missing and I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe I’ll re read in the future see if I change my mind

Not what I expected

I’m a big fan of Ashley Flowers and really enjoyed her first book it pulled me in right from the start and kept me hooked. This second novel had a solid premise and some strong moments, but it just didn’t hold my attention in the same way. I found myself wishing for more of that suspense and urgency I felt in her debut. The story was still well-written and worth the read, but the ending left me a little frustrated. I won’t give anything away, but it just didn’t land as strongly for me. That said, fans of Flowers' storytelling style may still enjoy it just with slightly tempered expectations.

A Solid Read, but Something Was Missing

It was ok. Kind of convoluted story. Got board by that. Trying to lead you astray in many twists and third to last chapter try’s to work it all out.

Two in one or even more
