Description

Well, it could be better.

Jim and his literal shoulder demon have survived, so far, by the skin of their teeth.

After finding a long-abandoned starter village, Jim has begun the process of rebuilding his town. Unfortunately for our favorite adventurer, the threats he now faces are far more complicated than mere monsters. The poor Noob has to deal with angry townsfolk, trade negotiations, and a talking badger.

With goblins and bandits also sniffing around, will Noobtown - I mean Windfall - survive?

LOL cheep humor but still beyond funny

I thought after I was 10 years old I would be beyond fart jokes but in this case the author used them and other such piece of rhetoric to play to all the strengths of all the characters. I love that the MC is not an idiot, it sadly has become far to commonplace for writers to make their MC's Obtuse but not here Jim is a consistent characters and the side characters play off him perfectly. The narration was perfect, intense when it needed to be, and it has fun is the character dialogue that actually makes you feel like they are happening between two, or more, people (In my opinion that is the sign that the narrator captured what the author wanted.) 10 out of 10 WILL listen to it again.

Even better than the first- laugh out loud for hours

I love Ryan Rimmel’s writing. I was laughing on the train, at work, at restaurants, while walking- everywhere I was listening to this. There’s humor skillfully injected throughout the book, and yet it still has a fun plot, clever pacing, interesting characters, great banter, manages some pathos when called for, and has an intriguing litRPG system.

The narrator does a flawless job with the reading, particularly with the humor. Many narrators I enjoy do great jobs, except with jokes coming across flat. McClain leans into the humor, and enhances it with his choices on timing and inflection. I was genuinely impressed.

Can’t wait for the next book to drop!

Love the story but...

You've got real potential here. Please stop making the MC so damn stupid... making way too many mistakes for someone with an IT back ground, which by definition makes you flexible and detail oriented. When and where did the MC get hit with the super moron stick between book one and two?

The guy is and idiot for sure

It gets said so often it's pretty much a running joke. He repeatedly asks dumb, or obvious questions over and over again. He has access to time perception altering... Let's call it an ability, and he uses it to practically stop time, so he can ask questions he half the time answers himself. Instead of taking advantage of the ability to look through all of menus, tabs, traits, skill, perks, ext.. at 100/1 speed and make intelligent, synergistic choices, he picks.. at.. random.. Fucking moron. He can unlock all classes, and doesn't look into any that aren't flashing directly in his face. Sometimes he even ignores that. Instead of picking a few people to trust in and get help learning a new worlds ways, he's content to listen to a literal demon whispering in his ear and a fucking asshole of a honey badger. He never thinks anything through, is CONSTANTLY saying things like, "what's the worst that can happen". He even says it in a way that implies he knows he shouldn't be saying it, but he does it anyway for... reasons. Seriously, he would have been better off with no memories of earth, they are only hindering him, he can't really apply any of his earth knowledge which is normally the appeal of stories like these. The world's are just to different, and he's too caught up in those differences to think of anything interesting. So him knowing of earth is really just pointless, and serves no real purpose other than to make him miserable, and homesick.

All in all, it's humorous but tiring. Probably the last book I'll listen to in this series.

surprisingly city building heavy

usually in these books they go heavy on the litrpg stuff and forget they are in charge of a town, dungeon, forest whatever. this gets down into the nitty gritty and specifics of running the town so if you like resource allocation and trade negotiations then this is for you
