À propos de cet audio

Ghost hunter, fox whisperer, troublemaker.

It is the summer of 2013, and Abigail Kamara has been left to her own devices. This might, by those who know her, be considered a mistake. While her cousin, police constable and apprentice wizard Peter Grant, is off in the sticks chasing unicorns, Abigail is chasing her own mystery. Teenagers around Hampstead Heath have been going missing, but before the police can get fully engaged, the teens return home - unharmed but vague about where they've been.

Aided only by her new friend, Simon, her knowledge that magic is real, and a posse of talking foxes that think they're spies, Abigail must venture into the wilds of Hampstead to discover who is luring the teenagers and more importantly - why?

What a fun listen, and a great addition to the series. Can't wait for the next one.

Loved it!

Apparently a Novella (felt novel sized to me) in the Rivers of London series. Nice to see Abigail (the fox whisperer) get her own story. There was a lot in this novella, full of Ben Aaronovitch's wit and humour. Didn't miss Peter at all.

The premise was nicely creepy too (a bit Black Mirror/Doctor Who). However, I do feel it will become dated very quickly due to the slang, and the footnotes were annoying (thankfully there were less of them in the second half of the book.

I hope we get a follow up novel, maybe without the foxes.

Enjoyable

Please write more. Only one concern... The narrator is good but not great when trying to do other characters... mostly the Victorian transitions.

Thank You Ben

I was a bit put off by the details about self harm, and didn’t think they were necessary for the story. It doesn’t make it grittier. Just more sad, and not in a good way. It felt a bit gratuitous. Otherwise excellent.

A fun side story
