Description
Spend your winter on sunlit shores in the New York Times best-selling follow-up to Winter in Paradise, where secret lives and new loves emerge under the bright Caribbean sky.
A year ago, Irene Steele had the shock of her life: her loving husband, father to their grown sons and successful businessman, was killed in a helicopter crash. But that wasn't Irene's only shattering news: He'd also been leading a double life on the island of St. John, where another woman loved him, too.
Now Irene and her sons are back on St. John, determined to learn the truth about the mysterious life - and death - of a man they thought they knew. Along the way, they're about to learn some surprising truths about their own lives, and their futures.
Lush with the tropical details, romance, and drama that made Winter in Paradise a national best seller, What Happens in Paradise is another immensely satisfying pause-resister from one of America's most beloved and engaging storytellers.
Ce que les critiques en disent
"You'll be counting the days until you can return to the Virgin Islands with these characters in the concluding volume of the trilogy. Print the bumper sticker - 'I'd Rather Be Living in an Elin Hilderbrand Novel.'" (Kirkus, starred review)
"Once again, Hilderbrand demonstrates her mastery of immersive escapism with a carefully deployed pineapple-banana smoothie or the blue tile of an outdoor shower.... The absolute pleasure of the reading experience combined with a cliff-hanger ending will have readers anxiously awaiting the conclusion to the trilogy." (Booklist, starred review)

this feels like a soap. which is exactly what I was looking for. We did not get a while lot of answers in this, more of a slight continuation (if that makes any sense) I wish it was longer. Looking forward to the conclusion.
As an audiobook, the reader was great.

Poor ending
This begins well but is very poorly finished. It simply stops. The characters are engaging but the major plot points are predictable. The ending is horrible. It is not a spoiler to say that the story simply stops. Practically midsentence. Whoever wrote that this book could stand alone didn't bother to read it first. Every major and minor plot is left hanging at the end of the book. And if you, dear readers, did not see the final 'plot twist' coming from chapter one than you are just not very familiar with American criminal law are you? I saw it coming and I don't even live in the US. It was just a matter of when.

Boring and badly written
Struggled to finish it, and hard to care about any of the bratty, ridiculous, whiny, predictable characters. Should have returned it . So many great books in the world, don't waste time on this one.

What happens in paradise no closure!
I love Elin Hilderbrand! I have read almost every story she has written about Nantucket! All fun and had some kind of closure!
This book felt like her agent said “all right all ready get me the proof” . So she quickly ended it with no closure ... we don’t even find out if the helicopter crash was really a crash or a planned ...Or if Baker ends up with Ayers !

What a setup
There something to be said for a book that is built around the notion that leaves you wanting the buy the next book; however, this book could totally be eliminated as it is mainly a repackage of the first in the series with a poorly written ending that left me disappointed I purchased the book. So, I am returning the book.
