    In this episode of 1.73, Preston and Henry talk to Father Mark Livingston, Pastor of St. Augustine Parish and Schools. He shares his story of priesthood, how the confrontation of past wounds helped him move forward, and how important it is to deduce between constructive and destructive measures when growing the fruits of your mission.


    Father Mark was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and after graduating from Divine Child High School, he attended Wayne State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics. He pursued a career in finance, but ultimately felt a call to serve. After completing a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan, he began a new career working in hospitals. Still feeling a deeper call to serve, he joined the Seminary in Detroit and became a priest. He currently presides over the Merciful Love of Jesus Family of Parishes, in Richmond, Michigan.

    In this episode, Henry and Preston talk to Coach John LaFontaine. They discuss John’s journey from player to coach, how faith plays a role in a battle of identity, and how we’re all called to help others find their mission by first finding our own.


    John LaFontaine was born in St. Louis, MO. Growing up alongside his brother, Pat LaFontaine, the two of them played competitive hockey in high level leagues, until his brother went pro. Struggling to find his own path, he found himself called to coach and lead by faith. After coaching numerous teams in the NAHL, AWHL, NPHL, and USHL, he now coaches Cranbrook Schools Varsity High School team in Metro Detroit, where he’s won numerous Coach of the Year awards, and a state championship.

    On this month’s episode, Preston and Henry talk to Peggy Ward, lifelong saleswoman, former stand-up comic, and mother of three. She discusses how important it is to find work that not only fulfills you, but allows you to be a present parent and raise a family.


    Peggy spent the early part of her working years in advertising as a copywriter. After the birth of her first child, she put a pause on her career. A few years (and a second baby) later, she launched her comedy show based on the challenges of motherhood. She eventually had her third baby and continued her stand-up show for more than a decade. She now works in sales where she helps business owners market through digital and direct mail advertising.

    Craig, hailing from Albuquerque, pursued a career in aviation and jet propulsion. After business buyouts, he eventually found himself running an organization, taking on the responsibility of leading a team in a time of change. Knowing the importance of leadership in a business, and answering his new call to adventure, he eventually founded Summit Achievers, a leadership coaching organization that helps businesses ascend together, attain newfound clarity, and achieve extraordinary outcomes.

    Rick graduated from University of Michigan with a degree in Industrial Engineering, and a collegiate football career as a placekicker for Michigan, playing under Bo Schembechler alongside Jim Harbaugh. After graduating, he went on to technical sales at a large organization, eventually deciding to pursue a career in business ownership. He acquired ThermalNetics in 2004, a HVAC company whose mission is to provide more comfortable and healthy indoor environments through innovative HVAC solutions.
