  • Embracing the Darkness of Divorce To Find The Light
    Jul 14 2025

The darkness of divorce creates the space for our rebirth as we learn to reject society's harmful narratives and embrace our authentic transformation. Darkness gets a bad rep, especially during divorce, but what if it's actually the birthplace of transformation? Drawing inspiration from Lyz Lenz's book "This American Ex-Wife," in this episode of Becoming You Again, I’ll explore how darkness and light function during a woman's divorce journey.

Society bombards women with what I call "false light" – harmful narratives that make women the bad-guy when it comes to divorce. These deceptive guideposts, like artificial coastal lighting that confuses us, leading women away from their authentic self toward figurative death – living as shells of themselves in marriages where growth has stagnated.

True darkness is where you decide for yourself what your divorce means. It's where you reconnect with your inner wisdom, align your brain, body, and intuition, and discover the resilience that was always within you. Like twilight with its beautiful gradient of colors, your divorce darkness contains unexpected beauty that leads to the genuine light waiting on the other side: joy, peace, self-trust, and the power of living authentically.

  • Healing From Divorce Without Shame
    Jul 7 2025

Grief is an inevitable part of divorce, but the shame and judgment that often accompany it? Those are completely optional. In this episode, I explore why so many of us pile unnecessary suffering onto our natural grief during divorce—whether it's shame about past behaviors, feeling we weren't "enough," or guilt about hurting others, especially our children.

Drawing on the Buddhist story of the two arrows, I explain how when we layer shame and judgment onto grief, we actually block the very healing process we're trying to move through. The solution isn't to avoid grief, but to approach it with self-compassion instead of criticism.

I share a practical three-step self-compassion practice that you can use whenever that mean inner voice starts berating you about your divorce. This isn't about giving yourself a free pass—it's about creating the emotional safety needed to actually feel and process your grief without the additional burden of shame.

As someone who's walked this path, I know firsthand how religion, family expectations, and our own perfectionism can make divorce feel not just painful but shameful. But I also know the liberation that comes when we drop that second arrow and simply allow ourselves to grieve with kindness. Your healing doesn't require suffering—it requires feeling, with compassion, exactly as you are.

  • Healing from Resentment After Divorce
    Jun 30 2025

Divorce creates the perfect breeding ground for resentment - that heavy, persistent feeling that can linger for years after your marriage ends. But what if you could finally set down that emotional burden?

This episode dives deep into understanding what really fuels your post-divorce resentment. Through practical exercises and thoughtful guidance, you'll learn to identify the specific ways the resentment was created in the first place.

The transformation begins with awareness. By recognizing exactly what you're holding onto and why, you create space to process these emotions completely. I walk you through a step-by-step writing exercise to help you name your resentments without judgment, identify the expectations and then I offer concrete techniques to process through the resentment and release it with intention.

As a bonus, are you ready to free yourself from unnecessary emotional baggage? Download my free guide to managing the emotional rollercoaster of divorce through the link in the description to accelerate your healing journey.
