  • feel like you're not doing enough?
    Nov 11 2019

Couple years ago, I would always go to bed feeling like I didn't do enough today. I could've done more.

It's not a feeling I wanted to live with so I started doing these 3 things to my To-do lists:

    1) I eliminated every useless thing off of it, like learn a new language or take a pottery class. And I say no to anything I don't truly want to do.

yes, I wanna try new things but it doesn't help when you see extra tasks on your list that you don't really need. Psychologically, it stresses you out more. So keep your list short, relevant and achievable.

    2) Another thing is to have one big goal for six months or a year:

    • Breaking it down into small milestones for every month. Then schedule it into weekly small actionable tasks.
    • for example, create a new product (one big goal) then you can chunk it down to ideas, research, material, packaging, prototype, sourcing, pricing, marketing, branding... (lol, you get it) you can schedule each small chunk per day or week (depending on the amount of work).
    • This always helps me see that I'm making progress and keeps me motivated. I use it for everything, from personal fitness goals to work. 3)

CHORES. You just have to do them. Here's a perspective you can apply to them:

    • Viewing chores like washing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning your car etc as things you GET to do instead. If you think about it, these are all privileges. You have a pretty blessed life to have chores such as these.
    • You aren't obligated to do anything, if you don't want to cook then you're choosing to eat out or go hungry. but knowing that you always have an option and you choose to do those tasks to show yourself care and create a life you want might make them more enjoyable.

I'll leave you with this quote because in a very nerdy way, it inspires me:

“What you do today can improve all of your tomorrows.” —Ralph Marston

  • when you're dealing with problems...
    Nov 5 2019

One thing I for sure know about you is that you’ve got problems.

And you’ll never have a time in your life where you’ll be problem free. As a human, dissatisfaction is a part of you.

Wanting to improve things is our nature. That’s why we have so many innovations.
You inherently adapt to your lifestyle and look for faults. You then assume that happiness is somewhere in the future.

Nothing or no one will bring you eternal joy. You might love the idea of a lifetime fix and you might be driving yourself crazy to get to it. But guess what, you can be in a good relationship, living in a penthouse and eating steak every night. You’ll still be chasing solutions 🤦‍♀️

Problems can’t be erased from your life. They can only be exchanged or upgraded. Like, a rich guy and a homeless guy both can be having financial issues but one’s clearly more miserable.

Accept problems as part of the journey and know that life can still be enjoyed fully while having issues.

However, knowing what problems to ignore is part of the equation too.
Choose the problems you want to consciously give a fuck about.

Like having work problems to solve and finding new solutions makes me happy. No matter how frustrated I get, I use that to fuel my output. Or having relationship problems and solving them to build a deeper connection. Or facing uncomfortable actions to create a lifestyle I want. There are problems that are worth it. I’ll gladly work my ass off to solve these issues because the outcome brings me true happiness. My work and relationships are important to me.

Only take on problems that align with your values. And everything else choose to be indifferent. There are several things that can bother you from strangers on Instagram, minor everyday inconveniences, or not having the latest iPhone. What you focus on is what holds weight.

And when you set out to solve the problems that you deeply care about and not the ones that were created for you by others. The process of solving them will become truly satisfying.

There are two ways to view problems

    • one is to look at them as a challenge to create a stronger version of yourself. like if the problem is a level 4, think of yourself at level 10. You're stronger than that amateur problem. lol
    • Asking yourself “what’s the worst that could happen?” and mentally imagining the worst case scenario then finding an alternative route to cope with the worst case scenario will give you ease. Because there are way too many options and opportunities in the world to feel like one problem can make you lose your balance.

There are way too many options and opportunities in the world to feel like one problem can make you lose your balance. Nothing's really as life threatening as your mind makes it out to be. There is ALWAYS an alternative, you just have to actively do something about it.
