Parenting happens by design or default. And, honestly, it’s easier— though it seems more difficult— to do it with a plan.

But doing it with a plan requires a few things.

    👇

I invited my friend Randy into the studio to discuss his approach to the “part art / part science” long-term process of parenting. He’s an expert, because he and his wife did it and ALMOST had an empty nest… and then found out they had another on the way.

They get a second chance to do the parenting thing all over again, implementing the adjustments we all look back and think about— “Oh, if I only knew then what I know now…”

    🤷‍♂️

Parenting a toddler is different than parenting a teen. And that’s different than parenting a son or daughter who’s now a senior in college or just stepping into the full time workforce.

    That seems obvious.

    🤦‍♂️

But how do you know what each child needs at each stage of life?

And how can you not only know WHAT they need but also HOW to transfer that lesson, that bit of leadership to them?

    🧐

Randy talks about the three phases of parenting….

    🔴 0- 5 years, discipline = building a foundation

🟠 6-12 years, training = developing soft skills

🟢 13+, coaching = equipping them to make good, “life” decisions

We start breaking them down in this episode, as well as discuss why you need to manage the culture moreso than just manage the schedule and the agenda…

  • 19 | When the Delay is Magnified by (Your) Failure
    Dec 10 2025

In the previous episode we discussed waiting / delays related to our dreams / purpose. We mentioned four things which occur…

    ⭐️

There are three more things that happen during our seasons of waiting (listen to our previous talk for the first four):

5️⃣ PLANS & IDEAS develop + mature. That is, the ideas become “better” and more refined.

6️⃣ PATIENCE grows— making us more complete. When we remember that God WILL fulfill the plans He’s created for us (see Ephesians 2:8-10 & Acts 13:36), we can really lean into this one, acquiring the lessons and insights we need during the wait.

7️⃣ PASSION either grows or withers… and, if it wains, it’s probably a good thing that we didn’t jump headfirst into the project or pursuit.

    💥

But what do we do when the wait is— at least in some measure— our fault?

    Turns out, grace covers it.

And, more than that, GRACE OFTEN makes that the very platform where we make a difference.

    📈

History— and the Bible— is full of the stories of people who waited (and failed) and became massive “successes” in the very area of their struggle.

Turns out, we’re often perfectly positioned to serve the people who find themselves walking through the same muck & mire that we once traversed.

    So, shame free…

    … lean in.

And don’t waste the lessons you’ve learned during the wait— even if it was, in part, your own doing. God redeems ALL things to impact ALL people.

    💜

  • 18 | Reframing Delayed Dreams
    Dec 3 2025

    Sometimes, we find ourselves waiting…

There’s a delay between what we feel God calls us to do and the actual implementation of that call.

Many times, it’s out of our control.

And when it is, it might just be a matter of TIMING.

In this talk we discuss a YEARS long delay between an idea and an implementation strategy, as well as the long road it took to get there. And, we highlight four of the seven things that occur whenever there’s a delay…

    👇

1️⃣ PRAYER gets answered in the right way— which is often different than how we originally made our request.

2️⃣ PEOPLE move around— some exit and some enter. Many of these shifts are necessary if God’s going to take us to the place He wants us to be.

3️⃣ PREPARATION & SKILL increase… as long as we lean into it and don’t “waste the wait.”

4️⃣ PROVISION— which includes more than just money— comes… that is, God moves some of the resources we need into our hands…

If you’ve ever waited (and we all have), lean in…

  • 17 | Shame Off You
    Nov 26 2025

    Let’s talk about shame.

It’s a real deal, and it impacts a lot of us…

    🤷‍♂️

Whereas PTSD is primarily and soul hurt (read: emotions), Moral Injury is a primarily a spirit hurt (read: conscience.

It’s important to note the differences…

… because any part of us can be injured. And, the part that is injured is the part that needs to be healed.

A lot of us are walking around with wounded spirits…

    ❤️‍🩹

The term for a wounded spirit / conscience is “Moral Injury.”

Moral Injury CAN occur from the “bads we commit” AND the “goods we omit,” but life is far more nuanced that just “doing the right thing and avoiding the wrong thing.”

So, in this talk, we highlight nine different ways Moral Injury occurs.

Note: these examples are not meant to provide an exhaustive list— but simply to show examples.

    👇

Here are the nine we discuss:

1️⃣ You do the right thing but it’s an ethical “wrong” in another environment (38:05).

Example: J.T., firing his weapon, to “take out” an insurgent

2️⃣ You neglect doing something “good” or something you feel you should have done (39:32).

    Re: Danny’s experience in Vietnam.

3️⃣ You do something good but a bad outcome happens (40:46).

The airplane he was piloting crashed. He survived but over a dozen others did not.

4️⃣ You don't do something wrong at all— but you don’t recognize the signs of something bad about to occur (42:37).

Example: Chris got a promotion. He celebrated with his fire team, but got a call about 2 hours later.

5️⃣ You survived something, yet someone else was injured or killed (43:56).

Example: Jonathan’s training officer delivered a warrant on one of Jonathan’s regular off days.

Example: Father Ed… and survivor’s guilt

6️⃣ You’re the victim— something happens to you, yet you still feel guilt & shame (46:47).

Example: She was the victim of military sexual trauma (repeated rape).

7️⃣ You try to help but you don’t succeed (48:37).

Example: The fireman went the “wrong way” in the house fire. They discovered there was someone in the opposite side of the house, after the fact.

    Example: The tank accident

8️⃣ You think you could have helped, but you were ordered to stand down (51:21).

Example: Rachel had orders to wait until law enforcement cleared the scene of the shooting, while two victims awaited her.

9️⃣ You see something that defies all moral & ethical sensibility (54:03).

Example: Jackson received a call, and went to help the victim at her neighbor’s front porch.

    👇

This not an exhaustive list of the ways Moral Injury can occur— it’s a list of ways that is HAS occurred.)

Notice that the common denominator in each of these is NOT “fight or flight” (like PTSD). It’s “guilt and/or shame.”

    In other words, it’s a spiritual/conscience hurt— NOT a soul/emotional hurt.

    😳

How does it impact many of us?

    Well…

… we get raw about it towards the end.

Is emotional health / healing even Biblical? That’s the question we want to answer in this episode… ⭐️⭐️⭐️ In seminary I learned about “the law of first mention,” a precept that tells us to really comprehend something in the Biblical narrative, we need to dig deep into the first time we see the word or concept introduced. To understand redemption and the redeeming work of Jesus, and to explore everything achieved by His blood, we need to travel way back through the Old Testament to the book Exodus. The story of Israel's freedom provides incredible insight into the life Jesus offers each of us. And it was a freedom that was both comprehensive (it covered EVERY area of life) and "now" (they experienced it in real time and space-- not after they died). ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The first time we see the word redemption used is in Exodus 6:6— when the Lord mentions that He will redeem His people. God tells Moses to tell all of Israel, “I will deliver you from slavery… I will redeem you” (6:6 ESV). God refers to redemption in the FUTURE tense. The second place we see the word redeem used in the Bible is Exodus 15:13 when Miriam begins singing AFTER the Children of Israel walk through the Red Sea. She celebrates, “These are the people whom You have redeemed.” Notice— The ONLY event in between the two usages is the Exodus— the experience the word redeem describes… ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Now, the New Testament tells us we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus (i.e., 1 Peter 1:18-19, Revelation 5:9, etc.). Most Christians ARE NOT surprised to hear this. We’ve heard it for as long as we've been around the Church. But… … since Jesus redeemed us by His blood, it makes sense that He redeemed us at each place He shed His blood. Pause. Rewind and review the second point. The place Jesus bled is important. That is, how and where Jesus bled actually reveals something as to the freedom(s) He grants us. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Peter says that we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus (1 Peter 1:18-19). He doesn’t say that we are redeemed “at the Cross.” Yes, it’s easy to just assume that he’s taking about the Cross. But, when we read the text we see something greater happening. Exploring this point provides our answer to the third question above— we see what Jesus redeems us to. We are redeemed by the blood that Jesus shed at the Cross— and during the events surrounding the Cross. Peter emphasizes the blood, not necessarily the location of the blood. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Think about the blood of Jesus for a moment, and all of the places we see it in the Bible. He bled in seven unique places. 1️⃣ In the Garden, He prayed and sweat drops of blood. 2️⃣ As they soldiers came and arrested Him, they beat Him ruthlessly and He bled more, becoming bruised and battered even beyond recognition. 3️⃣ The Roman soldiers scourged Him, opening most of His back, exposing His internal organs... and His blood. 4️⃣ They mocked Him by placing a crown of thorns on His brow, causing more blood to flow. 5️⃣ They nailed His hands into the cross-beam, and He bled. 6️⃣ His feet became another place of bleeding. 7️⃣ Even after Jesus was confirmed to dead, a soldier pierced His side, puncturing His heart and releasing more blood. Jesus literally shed all of His blood— all of His blood for all of your redemption. This doesn't minimize the work of the Cross at all. Rather, it amplifies it. Understanding the full scope of what Jesus did for us is like plugging the victory declared from the Cross into an amplifier. Jesus bled at seven distinct places— not just one— and each place brought another degree of redemption. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ And, yes… Items #2 and #7 on the list… … well, they have a LOT to do with soul freedom. _________________ Next best steps from here… 📳 Access the free “best of” Soul Wholeness audiobook here = https://www.jenkins.tv/best 📘 This content of this podcast is discussed in more detail in the eBook titled “Redemption” / get free access here = https://www.jenkins.tv/R ✅ We also talked about physical healing in episode 6. • 15 | I’ve got your six (GY6, part 2)
    Nov 12 2025

We continue in this talk where we left off in the previous…

… tackling the idea that if you work through the pain in the Presence you may very well find your bigger purpose.

(Note: this is a continuation of episode 14.)

    💥

That led me to the GY6 project— a resource I created over the past 2 years, based on a lot of personal struggles as well as professional opportunities. And, it’s getting ready to launch.

(Plus, we’re building a great team of people to help us roll it out.)

    ⭐️

    Note:

    GY6 = Got your six…

    👇

When the first U.S. pilots flew into war, over a century ago, they could not see behind them— only ahead of them (the 12 o’clock position) and only to the side (the 9 and 3 positions). They could not see their “6.”

But other pilots could, and they would effectively tell the man ahead of them, “I’ve got your back. I’m looking out for you. Nothing will harm you as long as I’m here. I’ve got your six.”

This mantra has carried forth to other military personnel, law enforcement officers, and heroes of all kinds. The inference is the same: you’re covered.

  • 14 | Through the pain with the Presence into your Purpose (GY6, part 1)
    Nov 5 2025

Two “streams” converged to create the GY6 project—

    1️⃣ Personal struggles, and

2️⃣ Professional experience that fit the same “lane” as those struggles…

Here, we tackle the first stream— the personal struggle. And, we discuss what it was like for me to get raw about myself, truly look in the mirror, and tackle some of the deeper issues.

When we get honest about our pain-points, our shortcomings, and our character issues…

    … we can address them.

Furthermore, we can move forward in healing AND also help others— often who are walking through the same mess we’ve stumbled through.

    👇

Or, to say it another way—

Work through the pain, in the Presence, and walk into your purpose..
