Brent Weyland was the life of the party until an injury ended his hockey career. Now he's retreated alone to a lakefront house, trying to make sense of a life and body that doesn't feel like his anymore.

Jon Norquist was happily married right up until he wasn't. Now a single father in his 40s, he's trying to figure out what comes next. In the meantime, he pours his heartache and regret into the lyrics he sings for the wine bar crowd a couple of nights a week.

When a friend coaxes Brent out for a night of wine and music, he puts Brent and Jon on a collision course. Their chemistry is instantaneous. Jon gives Brent's battered body a much-needed remedial lesson in pleasure. And Brent gives Jon a reason to smile again.

Multiple reasons, actually. Neither man wants anything serious, but love has a habit of showing up whether it's welcome or not. No matter how hard they try, the two can't help having feelings for each other, even as life continues to throw them curveballs.

But they've both got baggage to unpack and hurt to move past, and if they can't leave their pasts in the past, they might just miss out on an amazing future.

This was a fantastic audio book. I couldn't stop listening. Loved how the main protagonists come together and build emotionally.

This story really took me by surprise. A lot of things in this story is incredible unique. 🙌🏻 It's quite I lovely change from an otherwise samey yet amazing story.

Also I finally get the wish of a much longer book! Instead of the shorter 6-7 hour books in which I really, really feel is not enough to tell the story in a lot of point of view and have satisfying length and ending.

I absolutely love all of the books in this series so far don't get wrong. However they are great storylines that I felt like heard of before. I like eating our most favourite foods. At least for me, despite of them being my most favourite foods. I get used to them.
Eventually I forget how amazing those foods are. Just like some of our favourite books.
So really appreciate the change of pace.

This story is more less stereotypical love. I feel that there is very real life tragic and very hard physical change that a lot of people face. Not a lot of people get dealt by fate equally no matter how they are.
That's why I felt Brent's story really resonated with me. His hardships with his parent and isolation hits hard for me.
Jon in the other hand felt like that guy I wanted to be and a guy I wanted to be with. So responsable, extremely kind and patient. His see the good inside a person where everyone else see only the surface layer. These two are a match in heaven.
L.A. Witt's book is quite enthralling.

All that combined with incredible narrators with voices that can convey emotions like a movies star is just outstanding that I can't even bring it into words. Greg Boudreaux, John Solo are so fantastic that I wonder why haven't heard much of their narrations before. The way deliver emotions through vocal is very much like of that of a voice actors. I felt real raw emotions that I only get to feel with blockbuster movies. It's really quite a treat listen to this.

An Absolutely Heart-Melting Story

I fell in love with the characters almost immediately, and their interactions were so touching. The honest portrayal of broken spirits and bodies was heartbreaking and yet made the possibility of healing within reach for the reader a much as the characters. It’s so much more than a romance - it’s a story of accepting love and believing you deserve it.

I enjoyed this book and the love these two have for each other. I wanted to reach through my phone and strangle the ex and the horrible father at some points but I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it!!

I laughed, I cried, I felt all warm and fuzzy inside! The narrators are great, I will look for more books they’ve narrated. If you don’t fall in love with John, Brent and Cody too, you need to see the Wizard about getting a heart, lol.

As someone who lives with chronic pain and how it changes your life, this story means so much to me.

Brent’s journey from successful hockey player, to being in a near fatal car accident, then having life altering surgeries to get him to his new normal that now includes chronic pain, really hits home. He’s a shadow of his former self, fighting depression and looking for direction in his life when his bestie takes him to a wine bar to get out of the house. That’s where he meets a sexy silver fox country singer, John, who is a masseuse by day (and is familiar with pain management)

They’re a match made in heaven but their own hang ups (Brent, his self-doubt) and John (his baggage from his recent divorce and being a single dad) put a lot of roadblocks in their burgeoning relationship, but their chemistry and big hearts win out in this beautifully empathetic tale that proves that no one is unworthy of love.

Greg Boudreaux and John Solo deliver incredible performances and I’ve listened to this story multiple times and it’s a perennial fave. 🌹
