Publisher's Summary

From the outside, I live a charmed life: hockey legend for a father, my own promising future in the league, a great family, awesome friends. It’s not untrue, but it’s not quite that simple either. My dad’s advice has always been to make hockey my number-one priority—at least until I make it to the pros.

So going into my senior year of college, I have a plan. I’ll put in the effort required to pass my classes, play hockey like my life depends on it, and avoid relationships. All I have to do is stay focused on the end game. It should be easy.

But when a woman literally floats into my dock, just before summer ends and my senior year begins, I can’t resist one last hookup. What harm could a one-night stand do? It’s not like we even exchanged numbers. Everything is fine until I run into her on campus. It’s a big school. I should be able to avoid her. Except she happens to be in my class. And she’s not a student. She’s my professor.

Good read

I always enjoy Helena Hunting books and this one didn’t disappoint even though it was predictable. I love HH character development in all her books including this one. Zachary Webber will always be my favourite narrator. Andi Arndt is one of my least favourite narrators and I often pass up audio books read by her. She a was decent in this book.

Another great one!

Helena Hunting is one of my favorite authors and I love love love the Pucked world. Getting to catch up with all the other characters is always a bonus to her books, I might have to go back and start that series over again. Clover and Maverick are such a cute couple. They are both going through their own issues, but are drawn to each other, even though their relationship is taboo while she's his professor. I love when Maverick puts Violet in her place about the age gap between him and Clover, because he was right, no one would question when the man is the older one in the relationship. I also really enjoyed Maverick's conversations with Lavender about the events in the past that he was hanging onto a lot of guilt for and that she was able to help him work through and move past it. Their sibling relationship is one a lot of people aspire to have. Mav's relationship with Ballistic Jr was also great to read. He really makes Mav think and asks him the tough questions. Since this book takes place over the course of a year, there is so much I could say about the story, but I don't want to give anything away. I will just end my review saying I loved this book and I hope we get Ballistic Jr's story next. As always, Zachary and Andi are perfection and really embody Clover and Maverick.

A couple quotes from the book I loved:
Ballistic Jr talking to Maverick about Lavender and Kody: "He only experiences the world in two ways - full color or none at all. And Lavender, well, she's his rainbow."
Also Ballistic Jr talking to Maverick: "Unconsciously, consciously, you protect everyone around you. Which begs the question, who protects you?"

Surprisingly deep

I never expected this to be a deeply emotional story. What I thought would be another light, sexy hockey romance was so much more. This is a beautiful story encompassing so many difficult topics and handling each one with thoughtfulness and care.
