À propos de cet audio

From New York Times bestselling author Karina Halle comes a dark and delicious Dracula retelling filled with secrets and lies, dangerous liaisons, and a forbidden, student-teacher, second chance love story with a twist.

Dahlia Abernathy has only known revenge. When her parents were killed at an early age by vampires, Dahlia spent the rest of her life under the thumb of the Witch's Guild being trained to kill them. Her latest mission sends her undercover to a prestigious music academy in Venice, Italy. Her goal? To kill Professor Valtu Aminoff, her teacher and the notorious vampire who inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula.

But getting close to a dangerous vampire like Professor Aminoff is one thing. Falling for him is another. With Dahlia's appearance disguised under a glamor spell, Valtu has no idea that the woman who has become his new dark obsession is actually the reincarnation of the woman he loved and lost twice before.

And Dahlia doesn't remember that the very man she has been sent to kill is the love of her life.

Will their love come through and transcend time once again? Or are the fated lovers destined to let history repeat itself?

Contains mature themes.

This was such an interesting take on Dracula. I loved the story of how it all came to be. interesting characters, and loved the narration.

Interesting

This book has every elementI love in a good story, and yet it was very underwhelming. There is so much potential for a truly compelling story, but it cut short to deliver on the plot. This should have been marketed as erotica, not romance/fantasy. There is so much emphasis on the sex that it makes it loose its "spicyness". The man boice actor was incredible, which was a big + .

So much potential..

At first I wasn’t sure about it. I like the modern take on the Dracula story, but it took me a while to get invested in it and to connect to the characters. By the end of it, I was heavily invested and enjoyed the book. The story hovers somewhere between erotica and supernatural fiction. I found the dual timeline a bit boring and felt the flashbacks took away from the main story and present day characters. The flashbacks were unnecessarily long-winded, but they did help tie things together in the end. The first sex scene felt overly manufactured, abrupt and out of place, but as the story continues, it sort of makes sense and they get better. Although I cringed every time the FMC called the MMC “my Lord”. Super cheesy. The narration was good overall. The female narrator was great, but I wasn’t keen on the male narrator. Sometimes he sounds a bit like Gru from Despicable Me, which I found offputting during sex scenes. Despite the critiques I mentioned above, I did enjoy the book and the last third of the story really drew me in. I think it’s worth a listen. It ended on a cliff hanger, so I’m on to the second one…

Worth it in the end.

4⭐️s & 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

This was a fantastic Dracula retelling narrated by Arthur Russell and Carolyn Eve. Arthur’s voice when I first started listening was a shock but man did it ever make you feel like you were listening to Valtu Aminoff ( Dracula ) him self. In this book we follow Valtu and Dahlia’s story you experience is a dual POV. The book gives you the epic love found and love lost feels, I laughed, I cried o and questioned so many things in my brain.

Spice was SPICY🥵 just a glimpse into it. “The Cello Scene”🤣🤭🫣 trust me there is plenty more scenes but I will leave it to you to find out.
Overall I loved this as my first ever Audio read!

Valtu’s Voice - just perfection
