Publisher's Summary
Two guys meet over a stack of romance novels. Soon they're turning pages late into the night....
Jamie Morin's college GPA drops every time a cow breaks through a fence, but he's determined to get his degree and keep his parents' Vermont dairy farm afloat. He'd rather be reading than milking, but he can't let his family down...not the way his brother did. So the last thing he needs is distraction in the form of an irresistible bookseller with a mysterious backstory.
Briar Nord has a lifetime of experience proving that happily-ever-afters only happen in his favorite books. But his luck might be changing. He's got a great job at a bookstore, and he lives in a city that puts maple syrup on everything. But Briar knows not to trust anything or anyone. And that includes a gorgeous farm boy with soulful eyes and too many obligations.
When Jamie joins Briar's romance novel book club, they both feel an instant connection. Soon they're turning pages long into the night. But Briar's past was bound to catch up with him. Sometimes, though, it takes two heroes to write a new ending....

Jamie & Briar
This was such a sweet story. I loved how all throughout the book, we followed the MCs’ love of books, one author in particular, and how they reenacted some of the most memorable scenes in their favourite books.
Jamie was completely overwhelmed with his studies, work, personal life and family obligations. We saw how he struggled to find a balance, but also the comfort and peace he found in the time he spent with Briar.
Briar had a complex past that unfortunately followed him to Vermont. I was absolutely rooting for him to make the right choice and be the good guy I could clearly see he was.
I loved how the author wrote closure for all the different problems the MCs faced in the story. The narration in the audiobook was perfect.

best of the series so far
I really loved everything about that book. The story and its progression and the narrators. But that epilogue is what got me.. It's such a heartwarming moment.

A little out of place in the series
The story isn't bad, per se, but it is a little shallow. This doesn't read like an adult romance novel. It would work well as a YA book, if you took out the sex scenes. The sex scenes themselves don't fit either. They seem forced (in the literary sense) and out of place. There's no slow burn of anticipation that leads to them, and other than the first one, they don't seem essential to the story. The narration was good, no mispronounced words or weird pauses. The voices seemed believable. It just didn't give me butterflies

V&V
I love this series. It was confusing at first when I saw different authors were involved in this series but as I finished the 12 book in the series. It makes a lot of sense now. Different minds different outcomes. Love it

A series of tropes
Narrated well. Standard tropes— useless parents, kindly old benefactor, city vs country, vengeful ex, criminal past, miscommunication and “I love books”—but it never really comes together. Disappointing and then just hard to endure. Characters very sketchily drawn. The discussions in the book club group are cringingly annoying and for two people who “love books” so much it’s clear by their actions and vapid chat that they’ve never read or absorbed life lessons from a real novel or anything above the level of low grade pulp.

So sweet
A book about people who love books? Yes! This is a perfect storyline. I'm from a small town in NY filled with farmland and also near the border of Canada. The donut and crueller, the ice wine, and all the other details are on point. This book hit home on what a tight nit community can do for a newcomer. They welcome them unabashedly and treat them like part of their family. Bryer grows up in a difficult upbringing, finds a new job, new beginning, new start in life. Jamie knows family love and life, helping the farm and trying to make his dreams a reality. A book store starts it all. This is a touching way to bring two college-aged men together, have their deepest insecurities bubble to the surface, and allow the other person pull them from the abis.
Tim Paige, as always knows when are where to lay thick on the emotion and the tone necessary for the scene. One of my favorite narrators. This is my first book with Cooper North and will surely not be my last. My narrator list is forever growing, I recommend this book!
On to the next!
