Publisher's Summary

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update", before "Sarah Palin", Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV.

She has seen both of those dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Just Enjoyable

It didn't feel like the story quite flowed well. May be better to read for yourself. Still some very funny parts.

A book for the sake of writing a book

I expected a little more wisdom from being a boss for so many years. The book starts with the tip “don’t eat diet food in meetings”. Later it argues how photoshop isn’t the worst and that the only people affected by it are people over the age of 70 because everyone else can see through it.

Not a bad book.

Very entertaining. I look forward to Tina's next book, when she can or may share more. To be honest, occasionally throughout the book I felt like maybe it was just a promotion for 30 Rock. I truly enjoyed and appreciated Tina's depiction of her father. Totally worth the listen. Please write more, Tina.

Excellent Read

I was looking for a light read. This book was very witty and humorous. I love that it was narrated by Tina Fey. I enjoyed hearing about her childhood and some of the shows she been on. I’d set the timer at bedtime and then keep extending the time because it was so good. Highly recommend this book! #Audible1

I expected more, actually.

What did you like best about Bossypants? What did you like least?

Tina was funny, but not as funny as I had expected. What is your target audience, Tina? I couldn't find myself in it. A little heavy on the feminism preaching, but I get it. Also, the editor dropped the ball by allowing Tina to begin talking rapidly at the end of some phrases for the effect of muttering under her breath. It was impossible to understand these phrases.

What was most disappointing about Tina Fey’s story?

Nothing was really disappointing, although some parts lacked substance. I expected to laugh out loud more than once. I didn't.

What three words best describe Tina Fey’s voice?

Kitten with whip.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Nope.

Disappointing

I gave the book 2 stars because, as much as I love Tine Fey, her narration was disappointing. Her reading sounded rushed, humorless, and overall negative- in a self-deprecating sort of way. I think I would have enjoyed the book much better had I read it instead of listening to it.

Tina Fey broke my new SUV

With 3124 on my new SUV's odometer, I was laughing so hard listening to Tina that I clipped a cement highway divider driving to work.

That's not the funny part.

I kept on laughing.. Tina Fey is like comedic Oxytocin.

Buy this book. Keep both hands on the wheel.

Disappointing

I've enjoyed Tina Fey on "30 Rock", so I thought I'd give it a try - especially since it has been getting a average of 4 stars on Goodreads and Audible.

She's done some interesting things, and I laughed a few times, but it wasn't five and half hours funny.

For me it was disappointing,

Could not relate

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book would be interesting and entertaining to middle age women and anyone who like New York. If you are not in those two groups, you may not relate to the story very well. Tina Fey's overview of her life describes an average woman looking at life choices from a privileged point of view. There were jokes in the book but it is not a comedy book, it is a biography with snarky comments.

Tina Fey is not my kind of funny.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

There were parts of the book that were funny but most of it is overly graphic descriptions about puberty, sex and other things I will forever have a unwanted visual of.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

didn't make it to the end.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Tina Fey?

no. probably not.

Was Bossypants worth the listening time?

not to me.

I like Tina Fey so I thought it would be funnier. It was interesting to learn more about her life, but overall, it was just OK.

COULD NOT LISTEN TO IT

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I love Tina Fey. I have seen her in various movies, 30 Rock and loved her on SNL. I don't recall her having such a foul mouth...obviously there wer limiations on national TV. The first 3 minutes I heard way too many cuss words. I no doubt think some will enjoy, but i just didn't want to hear all that. She may not say another one, but I had to bow out.

What could Tina Fey have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

FOR ME? No foul language

What didn’t you like about Tina Fey’s performance?

Foul Language

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment

Any additional comments?

Again, I love Tina Fey and this is probabaly a great listen for many other people, just not me

Very Disappointing

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

After reading the reviews of the readers’ feedback I purchased the book and was very disappointed that it was not funny or entertaining as the readers have mentioned… I actually find it annoying and boring. The fact that the author reads is does not add to the experience. She is talking about trivial things and gives her own opinion which is neither original nor adds value to the view on the facts or situation she is describing. I went half way through and had to abandon this book. Such a waste of time and money! Probably people who were watching her show or are her admirers would find this book useful as a source to get to know the author intimately.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I would go with an author who I have read before and enjoyed and would not experiment based on the best selling list books.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappoitment.

Bof.
