Publisher's Summary

Luc O'Donnell is tangentially - and reluctantly - famous. His rock-star parents split when he was young, and the father he's never met spent the next 20 years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad's making a comeback, Luc's back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything.

To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice normal relationship...and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He's a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and someone who has never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. In other words, he’s perfect boyfriend material. Unfortunately, apart from being gay, single, and really really in need of a date for a big event, Luc and Oliver have nothing in common. So they strike a deal to be publicity-friendly (fake) boyfriends until the dust settles. Then they can go their separate ways and pretend it never happened.

But the thing about fake-dating is that it can feel a lot like real-dating. And that's when you get used to someone...start falling for them...don't ever want to let them go.

An adorable read.

A well narrated, adorable book and a great take on the "fake dating" trope. Luc is a great POV character and (imo) seemed reflect the themes a childhood trauma/parental abandonment quite well. The narrator also really seemed to capture Luc's personality in his reading. I only wish that Olivers final arc didn't seem so rushed, as it caused it to fall a bit flat. All in all, a definite read for anyone who likes cute gay romance.

British

If English isn’t you’re first language then british may seem complicated to understand. I had difficulties to get in the story because of that, so I didn’t fully appreciate it. I wish I coulf have understood more easily.

Truly a Surprise

as a fan of Red White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston i was a little weary on starting this as it seemed fairly similar.
But i was surprised, both in how different it was but also in how much i adored this book.
Joe Jameson does a wonderful job at bringing all of Hall’s characters to life and the listening experience over all was very good
my only fault to this book is the abrupt ending, it left me wanting so much more
but overall, for a fantastically tropey and soft NA rom com, it’s everything you could want and more

Hit all the right spots

I was hesitant at first, it started a bit badly, but quickly I fell in live with this story and the characters. Alternated between laughing my ass off and at one point crying. Would reccomend.

A pleasant surprise

A fun story. It is the right mix of serious and not-too-serious for a summertime listen. The narrator has done an exceptional job!

Dryer than a James bond martini and just as delici

I don't usually read first person stories I have trouble identifying or getting absorbed into the book,so I decided to try an audio book.Im so glad I did. This was a fabulous book. The narrator pulled me in far easier than I expected and the author gave me the chance to really root for this couple. As well as many LOL moments, witty dialogue and some moments I would usually consider to sacrine or cringe worthy were instead just overwhelmingly sweet because I was so invested in the characters. Really, really brilliant job.So much so I think I'll go listen to it again. 😁
