À propos de cet audio
In this spellbinding first dramatized audiobook in #1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews’ urban fantasy Hidden Legacy series, private detective Nevada Baylor navigates her way through an alternate world where dynasties, built on inherited wealth and magic, guide the course of humanity.
Nevada Baylor runs a small-time detective agency in Houston, Texas, busting scammers, exposing cheaters, and dealing with petty criminals. She’s very good at her job–helped by a magical ability to sense when someone tells the truth or lies. But when she’s forced into accepting a case to find a radical pyrotechnic who can conjure heat and fire at will, Nevada knows she’s out of her league. To bring him to justice, she’ll have to join forces with someone who wields an even more dangerous power.
Connor “Mad” Rogan is a former combat mage, a telekinetic singularly responsible for mass destruction in war-torn countries, and a member of one of the most powerful magic families in the world. His nephew has been kidnapped by the fugitive pyromaniac, and Nevada is his best chance at finding them both. But unlike Nevada, Connor could care less about societal law and order, and has no qualms about extinguishing his family’s enemy.
Bound by their mission, Nevada and Connor clash over their tactics and moral beliefs, even as things undeniably heat up between them. But the man they’re chasing is involved in a darker conspiracy that threatens to destroy the city–and destabilize the balance of power the elite magical families use to influence every nation on Earth.

Good story, casting was a miss
I have the books in original audio, as well as kindle. I don’t love the original narrator but the casting and direction for the graphic audio is weirdly off putting. The FMC seemingly over emotes like a teen girl but is supposed to be mid-20’s PI who has gone through some tough things. I guess it would play well with the YA demographic. The MMC is delivered like a 70’s news reader, he’s supposed to be a big bad rich and scary guy, all stoic and handsome while being tortured or whatever, so I weird news reader is not really doing it for me. No issues with the other characters.
All in all, not bad, but if you have the other audible and are looking for a IKC level graphic audio make sure you listen to the preview.

Not how I expected it would be, but not complaining.
Similar to what another reviewer stated, I felt the interpretation of a couple of the main characters came out overly emotive compared to how they read or were done in the unabridged version. Nevada seemed a lot more frazzled and hot headed in this interpretation whereas in the other you felt her determination and role as being responsible for her family and business shined more. I felt the direction they went with her in the dramatized version came across less mature than her character actually was. Personally I feel the voice acting/narration in both versions were done well, it just came down to my personal preference that I feel like some of the characters in this dramatized version were interpreted oddly. I’m a fan of the authors and their stories though, and I enjoy dramatized audio performances, so I will pick up the other dramatized parts of this series when they become available. I do recommend checking out the unabridged version too if you’re a fan and are curious.
