Publisher's Summary

For the past year, Chloe St. John has been working as a K-9 cop with her German shepherd partner, Hank. After being dumped by her fiance for another woman, Chloe has decided Hank is just about the only male she likes. She's over the whole romance thing and focuses her attention on doing her job because a serious case of human trafficking with connections to her missing cousin just landed in her lap.

When US Marshall Blake MacCallum's daughter goes missing, he's ordered to kill the judge he's protecting and tell no one about his daughter's disappearance or she will die. Blake races against the clock to rescue his daughter while Chloe and Hank are asked to be a part of the task force assembled to bring down the traffickers.

Chloe finds herself attracted to the silent, suffering man, but thanks to her previous bad judgment, she wonders if she can trust him. And can Blake trust himself around this firecracker of a woman?

Awkward transitions in flow

Awkward transition in flow of dialog when a person is being addressed: I.e. “Thanks......Mom.”

Great story and the rest of the performance is good: good inflection and appropriate emotional feeling.

Love the book, very poor editing almost ruined it!

A tough subject to tackle and one that is as truly heartwrenching as this one could have been very ugly but it was done with compassion and not a lot of gory detail which I appreciate.

I love listening to Lynette Eason's books, I think I have almost everything she has written and I will continue to buy them but PLEASE have someone work on the editing. It was truly painful to hear all of the stilted sentences. word ... break ... word word word ... break ... word ... break. I would have returned it but I did listen because it was a good story and I would feel guilty.
I really hope they re-edit so no one else has to listen like this, I even tried 1.25 and 1.5 but that didn't help. I stuck with 1.25 to finish. This must be an editing issue because I have listened to this narrator before and she is great!

Excellent and filled with suspense.

I usually have an audio book I can listen in the car when commuting to work, this one grabbed me and I couldn’t stop listening when I arrived home....so in less than 24 hrs I finished it and wasn’t disappointed. I can’t wait for the next one to be available.

Disappointed

I love the story line. I read the first book and it was great, I was looking forward to listening to the 2nd book on audible. I was very disappointed in the narrator. She talks very slow, was like listening to a child that was learning to read. I will have to read the book instead which is very hard for due to time constraints.

This audiobook was so suspenseful that I to keep stopping to get my nerves back to listen again. At one point I had to go to kindle version and read because my nerves were so taunt. I cannot wait to listen to it again. A great story and very realistic thus my nerves.
