not unlike the first, this second novel is entertaining and a fun lesson. I do wish that it had been longer but it was fun while it lasted. I look forward to the next chapter in The adventures of Carl and princess donut.

This is one of those dystopian future books but its more like a bastard love child from a orgy between something like the hunger games and running man where you have to compete with other people doing probably not so nice stuff to other beings to survive and do it with style to gain popularity with the viewers, dungeon and dragons obviously cause you going down and it only get darker and harder and your gonna do some grinding to level up and stay safe, as well as gameplay and AI from the likes of Mr Torque and Claptrap from the Borderlands franchise. Wrap all that up in the mostly first person narration and storyline coming from a your average Joe with average problems that are entirely relatable with a voice and attitude like an 80's cop in a story that the mc can keep getting his ass kicked and somehow still progress. also he's got an adorable sidekick and there are Aliens. I blazed through 2 books in a couple of days and can wait for my next credit to hit the third. well done by both hays and dinnaman!

Matt Dinniman continues his unique blend of humour and storytelling. Both entertaining and enthralling.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves fantastic action, a great story arch and who doesn't mind bursting out laughing randomly around strangers as you listen to this series on your headphones in a coffee shop while you're supposed to be studying for an exam... best LIT RPG series I've ever read and top 5 favourite series!
