Publisher's Summary

She chose him. He chose revenge. But some choices have deadly consequences.

When Elise agreed to break a vicious curse over the man she loved, she never imagined he was a lost fae prince. But Valen left her to carry out vengeance for his slaughtered family. So when she joins the outlaw fae in their uprising against her own sister, all Elise wants is to forget the prince who holds her heart.

But fate has a different plan.

Reunited in the rescue of a mutual friend, Elise and Valen are forced to decide where they stand in the battle of crowns. As their passion reignites, so too do the dangers threatening to pull them apart for good: a strange magical blight infecting the land, betrayal by one of their own, and a devastating secret not even a fae prince saw coming.

The wicked game for the right to rule has begun. But who will save Elise and Valen from a dark magic with the power to destroy their love forever?

For fans of The Cruel Prince and The Shadows Between Us, this tale of a rebellious princess and a seductive prince is wickedly romantic.

Over all great book

Loved it, could see this transferring to a TV show so well! The character development and twists and turns are so good!

So happy I found this series!

I am a very eclectic reader. Before I started to lose my vision, I would find my material like everyone else; bookstores, advertising, word of mouth, traditional, pretty much everything out there. With Audible, it is different. You need great performances. Stories really need to speak to you. That's why I love it when I stumble across something really outside of what I might have chosen before that I find really great! This series is one of those gems. Great characters that make me laugh, cry, scream with frustration, love, hate, and tell them what to do in the middle of the night (I know I'm not the only person who does this 😀!). To me, characters and storylines that get you deeply involved are what make outstanding books, and this is an outstanding book and an opportunity for more. I can't wait to keep going.

50/50

Sadly this sequel was a bit of a let down. The first book had me on my toes for the whole time but this one was slow moving and the first half of itwas honestly boring.

It did liven up by the second half but it is a lot of expect readers to get through 150-ish pages before the story becomes relevant. Honestly, I debated just giving up on the book but decided to go ahead and finish it. The second half redeemed it for me. I can only hope book three is better.

Valen's stubborn rules and denial of the throne was so frustrating. I get being angry with how fate has laid things out, but to deny a throne and reject your own people who are in need is wild. The author really made him into a selfish person for as long. The last 50 or so pages was when he really redeemed himself for me. Two bad the first 300 had me pulling my hair.

And Elise was just as infuriating! She constantly ends up letting men walk all over her while claiming she has a mind of her own. Really?! Girl had three different occurences of almost being wifed up against her will in this series. Forgive me, but I figured that this plotline would have been retired after book 1.

Even less spice than the first book. The author writes spice like a fanfiction with a fade out before anything happens. Don't want spicy content, just don't make it a part of your plot.

I don't want to give up on this series though. Book three I hope will be better.

Great narration but poor plot

I felt like the plot was going no where most of the book and Legion’s decisions seem obtuse and ridiculous. Wasn’t my favorite read but the narration was superb.
