Publisher's Summary

FBI Agent Atlee Pine's search for her sister Mercy clashes with military investigator John Puller's high-stakes case, leading them both deep into a global conspiracy - from which neither of them will escape unscathed.

For many long years, Atlee Pine was tormented by uncertainty after her twin sister, Mercy, was abducted at the age of six and never seen again. Now, just as Atlee is pressured to end her investigation into Mercy's disappearance, she finally gets her most promising breakthrough yet: the identity of her sister's kidnapper, Ito Vincenzo.

With time running out, Atlee and her assistant Carol Blum race to Vincenzo's last known location in Trenton, New Jersey - and unknowingly stumble straight into John Puller's case, blowing his arrest during a drug ring investigation involving a military installation.

Stunningly, Pine and Puller's joint investigation uncovers a connection between Vincenzo's family and a breathtaking scheme that strikes at the very heart of global democracy. Peeling back the layers of deceit, lies and cover-ups, Atlee finally discovers the truth about what happened to Mercy. And that truth will shock Pine to her very core.

Absolutely Fantastic

Breathtaking ..this is the best one yet. I never wanted it to end. adding the Puller's in it gave it that extra kick. The next one can't come fast enough I'll be listening to this one over and over again . Absolutely fantastic

2 books w/o resolution????

Disappointed with ending. After reading previous 2 books, I thought surely Atlee would finally solve the mystery. Now I have to wait another year? Very upset with Baldacci. I have read or listened to ALL of his books; this may be my last one.

Like and Hate

Fast paced. Most of Baldacci's books read like a good mystery, action movie. My only issue is the twin's situation. Really, we had to go there and it had to be that? So many other directions to take. No rainbows and unicorns in this book and that's why I liked and hated it. Looking out for next book in the series.

EXCELLENT BOOK

I'VE LISTENED TO A TON OF DAVID BALDACCI BOOKS AND THIS ONE IS AT THE TOP OF ANY OF HIS BOOKS. FAST PACED FROM THE 1ST SENTENCE TO THE END. IT WON'T DISAPPOINT!!

Bye Bye Baldacci

Die hard fan for years but no more. I'm done. This is pretty much a rehash of the last story line just a new location with some soap box political commentary pontificating thrown in. Narration is great, Kyf is always spot on, his range and ability to get accents and inflection right make even a bad story line tolerable but he couldn't save this one. Brittany was starting to grow on me, and she does a decent job but again, nothing can make this mess tolerable.

Excellent!

I enjoyed this fast paced story, for the most part. I’m not crazy over the male narrator, though! Can’t stand his raspy voice. The female narrator was ok. Regardless, it was a good story.

Attlee is really an unlikable character.

The female narrator was a bit annoying but I don’t think she really could make Attlee likable. Maybe it’s just me, but I want to root for the protagonist......with her, I can’t. She is shrill and tone deaf to other around her.I’m also tired of the same worn out “I desperately need to find Mercy” talk when she had 30 years to think about it. What I would really like to see is another John Puller book....because maybe David Baldacci is better with male protagonists.....of course, Amos Decker is also on the edge of unlikabilty too. Back to Attlee Pine. The ending was stupid and ridiculous. Sorry for the spoiler.

Looking to next book in series

Great book fast moving. I did not want to put it down. The ending not totally expected. It did leave some questions unanswered

Grrrr

Here comes Angry Attlee! Completely dramatic and unlikeable, Pine, along with Amos Decker are angry. Gruff. Angry. Unlistenable. Horrible people and characters. I tried. Guess I’m done with Baldacci
