Isekaied into a world that has died? I kinda like the idea.

The problem with this execution? We have five or so characters the whole book. There is no interesting man vs environment Robinson Crusoe survivalism going on either. Instead we get ‘a wizard did it’ levels of don’t ask it’s magic plot rails that drive our hero into dungeons. (With a depressing lack of different threats. Like three monsters across the book?)

We also have a few chapters featuring another character… which only pay off in the sequel. (And having nearly finished that set up book three? Maybe?)

Book two is better, but unless you are like me and have purchased both 1&2 at the same time I wouldn’t have pushed through book one.

An interesting idea, but protagonist is an empty husk. pissed about cancer, but not about being dropped onto a dead world. No complaints, no plees to the intelligent system for recompense... but he is given a virtual child slave for dungeon dives, while he starve? WTF?

I'm not interested in stories that start a new cast of characters part way in.
It robs me of any immersion of the story and/or characters in the start of
the book. These books that stop writing about the main characters only to
start a whole new cast with no connection to original story, then go back
and forth between the groups should have a warning label.
