Publisher's Summary

A shocking true tale of childhood abuse at the hands of a stranger.

Sophie Jenkins is living a happy life in the idyllic Dorset countryside when she meets Martin Brett, the man who will go on to abuse her and haunt her dreams for years to come. A momentary act of neglect leads to a horrible series of events that leaves her changed forever. Badly let down by the adults entrusted to care for her, Sophie’s life begins to spiral downward.

However, Sophie’s message is ultimately one of hope and empowerment. She is in the process of rebuilding her life when fate leads her to encounter her childhood attacker once again. The story ends with a truly shocking climax.

Warning: This audiobook is based upon a true story of child abuse and contains passages that some listeners may find disturbing. All names and places have been changed to protect the identities of the innocent. (Cover photograph is posed by a model and is used for illustrative purposes only.)

Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your story. It was well written some of the details were hard to listen to. I feel that this may have been due to the fact that I myself am a survivor. However, surprisingly I found the book therapeutic. Thank you again

speechless, that how it left me.

I highly recommend this book. This woman took such a horrible experience and handled it with such grace. way to many children and adults have had similar experiences and say nothing about it. ever. this story helps people,at least me, not feel so alone. props to the brave author!

Honesty

I'd love to read all Kate has written, I feel this is a sad epidemic in the world who's victims have been forced into the shadows to suffer in silence and fear. Bravo for telling their stories. It was a great read as is the other offering on Audible

Always learning what to look for

As many of these stories I have listened to, each one still leaves me heartbroken and horrified. This girl was incredibly strong & the grace she has handled this abuse with is impressive. Every one of these subjects I have read/listened to teaches me something else to watch for. Always learning what signs to watch for and hoping I can help any child that is in such an awful situation!

interesting

this story was terrifying and caused me to both be grateful about the changes to our education system (and hopefully parenting). It also made me curious as to whether or not it has changed enough to keep children safe.
