Story
The second book by Sunset Strip video vixen Bobbie Brown, Cherry on Top documents Brown's transformation from 1990s sex symbol to comedy queen, revealing the dramatic ups and downs of her biggest reinvention yet. Once the hottest girl on the Sunset Strip, the blonde beauty in the video to Warrant's 1990s hit, "Cherry Pie" is now in her late 40s, and she's letting her mouth run wild as a headliner on the comedy stage a few doors down from the rock clubs she once frequented. She's still smoking hot, but telling jokes about farting on men's balls isn't helping her find The One.

Besieged by the media, Carrie was shocked and astounded at the frenzy these tweets aroused. It convinced her that she needed to write her memoir. Her attitude: If they think these stories are sensational, just wait until they hear about all of her life’s adventures.

In 1984, at the age of 20, Duff McKagan left his native Seattle - partly to pursue music, but mainly to get away from a host of heroin overdoses then-decimating his closest group of friends in the local punk scene. In LA only a few weeks and still living in his car, he answered a want ad for a bass player placed by someone who identified himself only as "Slash." The son of a classical pianist straight out of the Bronx of old Archie comics, Steven Tyler was born to be a rock star. Weaned on Cole Porter, Nat King Cole, Mick and his beloved Janis Joplin, Tyler began tearing up the streets and the stage as a teenager before finally meeting his "mutant twin" and legendary partner, Joe Perry. In this addictively listenable memoir, Tyler unabashedly recounts the meteoric rise, fall, and rise of Aerosmith over the last three decades and riffs on the music that gives it all meaning.

Publisher's Summary
She's my cherry pie. Tastes so good, make a grown man cry.
Who could forget the sexy "Cherry Pie" girl from hair metal band Warrant's infamous music video? Bobbie Brown became a bona fide vixen for her playful role as the object of lead singer Jani Lane's desires. With her windblown peroxide mane, seductive scarlet lips, and flirtatious curves, she epitomized every man's fantasy. But the wide-eyed Louisiana beauty queen's own dreams of making it big in Los Angeles were about to be derailed by her rock-and-roll lifestyle.
Ever wonder what it's like to f*** a rock star? After her tumultuous marriage to Jani imploded, and her engagement to fast-living Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee ended in a drug haze - followed by his marriage days later to Pamela Anderson - Bobbie decided it was time Hollywood's hottest bachelors got a taste of their own medicine. Step one: get high. Step two: get even. In a captivating, completely uncensored confessional, Bobbie explicitly recounts her encounters with some of the most famous men in Hollywood: Leonardo DiCaprio, Kevin Costner, Mark McGrath, Dave Navarro, Sebastian Bach, Ashley Hamilton, Rob Pilatus of Milli Vanilli, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, Orgy's Jay Gordon, and many more. Who's got the most titanic dick in Tinseltown? Whose bedroom did Bobbie (literally) set on fire? No man was off limits as the fun-loving bombshell spiraled into excess, anger, and addiction. Bobbie survived the party - barely - and her riveting, cautionary comeback tale is filled with the wildest stories of sex, drugs, and rock and roll ever told.

A pleasant surprise
Any additional comments?
I've read a lot of autobiographies and I have to admit this one surprised me. When I heard her mention revenge in the first chapter, I thought she was going to tactlessly air out other people's dirty laundry but she is equally hard on herself. The other autobiographies I've read are all peppered with wishy washy "love yourself" self-help reminders that don't seem to be coming from the heart and just seem like a way to fill up space and gloss over the tougher details of their life that they do not want to share with others. Of course it is one hundred percent understandable that they wouldn't want to share private details but as a result the books seem more like a money grabber. We can get a brief summary of anyone's life from a magazine interiew. Bobbie fearlessly bares herself and teaches everyone else the lessons she learned in the process.

I had no idea who she was - and loved it anyway!
Would you consider the audio edition of Dirty Rocker Boys to be better than the print version?
Hearing her voice. Her audio inflections of outrage, sarcasm, or subtle disgust come in loud and clear. I felt like I was hearing a story told by a good friend over a drink or five.
What did you like best about this story?
I love her humility. She started out on top with everything handed to her, and when things go wrong, she has a dark but very human sense of humor about it.
Which scene was your favorite?
Davd Navarro's "introduction tape".
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was especially glad that her child came out alright.

Not Exacly What I Expected
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, This book gives a insider look into the rock lifestyle of the time. Bobbie doesn't hide things because she doesn't want to make someone mad or to make herself look better. Everyone's flaws are out on the table and so are hers.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dirty Rocker Boys?
Bobbie is so transparent in this book that you can really get a feel of the ups and downs in her life. She is also careful to tell her story from her perspective. Others are discussed in detail but she doesn't really speculate on their story as much as her perspective and experience.
Any additional comments?
I love reading biography or autobiography types of books. You can tell when a book is written on the fly or with certain things omitted or glossed over so that the person telling the story is seen in a better light. Bobbie doesn't hold back her own short comings and you can tell what she has learned from her experiences and how she really feels about everything around her. Is she a saint? Hell no. But is she just cold hearted and out to get everyone, not really. This is a down and dirty book and I loved it.

It's awesome to hear Bobbie read her book to you
If you could sum up Dirty Rocker Boys in three words, what would they be?
Honest life story of Bobbie Brown in her own words and tone.
What other book might you compare Dirty Rocker Boys to and why?
unique book; no other like it
Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the honesty and way that Bobbie conveyed her story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I bought the book and to have her read it to me; such a great story and book.
Any additional comments?
Bobbie is honest about her life and this is a true and real story told in an awesome way. I am happy to own it and have the audio version as well. I am a fan of Bobbie and Jani.

LOVED IT!
I'm embarrassed to say I had really low expectations for this book, but thought it would be a fun read anyway remembering my own days on the Sunset Strip. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. I usually can't stand it when the author is the narrator. This book is the absolute exception to this rule. Bobbie Brown did a phenomenal job narrating this. You felt like you were right there with her. I think she's missed her calling. I would listen to her as a narrator on other books as well. She was THAT good.
As for the story... where to begin? I have no clue how she managed to pack so much into less than 6 hours. She found a way to make the stories fun and at times gut wrenching, too. You really felt like a friend of hers living it with her. Also, I can't say she threw anyone under the bus really. YES she spread dirt on many a "dirty rocker boy," but not in such a way as to make you feel like she sold anyone out. She spoke her mind about some of the different nasty girls from Hollywood, but I never felt like it was a cheap shot. I'm pretty sure I'll have to read this one again.
My only complaint.... is that the book was too short. I would have gladly listened to another 6 hours :-)

I can't even think of one.
Have you listened to any of Bobbie Brown’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES!
Any additional comments?
A little sad that it took her so long to get healthy as a person and a mother.

Bobbie Jean Brown's Prerogative
I was never a fan of hair metal. Okay, that’s a lie. I liked a few bands because it was a requisite of being teenager in the 1980’s. But, I think I did it to fit in or due to peer pressure… there had to be a reason. Anyway, I bought this book because I love biographies, I love stories about small-town kids reaching for their dreams and I love it when an author has the nuts to read their own story. This book hit enough of the right notes to convince me to buy it.
I’ll start by saying, for the most part, I enjoyed this book. But, there are a few things I’d like to warn you about. When Bobbie is reading her story, she’s on fire and injects herself into her story telling – she is a great narrator. However, when she’s reading words like abhorred and hubris, she stumbles and the narration falls on its face. I think I can pick every word that Caroline Ryder put in this book. Caroline was essential for helping Bobbie piece together Bobbie’s extremely chaotic life, but she should have kept the SAT words out of Bobbie’s mouth. On the rare occasion Bobbie pronounces them correctly, they stick out like speed bumps and left me wincing.
Kudos to Bobbie for her candor, but I didn’t end up liking her very much. I don’t think I can like someone who gets even, takes revenge and plainly discussed EVERYTHING about her loves/lovers. It felt bad. It made me feel bad. There is a way to tell a lurid story and be candid, without being this graphic, especially at someone’s expense. She made no additional friends in the telling of her story. I am glad that she didn’t completely tell Jani’s story, showing some discretion and humanity, as it clearly was extremely painful to him and something he didn’t want shared.
I’m happy that Bobbie has found something to live for other than drugs and the worthless men she has spent her life attaching her wagon to. Being beautiful is not earned and this woman seems to have learned a valuable lesson about what life is really like for mere mortals.

Interesting Read
Very interesting story, some parts very graphic, but the narration was horrible. It sounded many times like she was rushing through the story to get done which was very distracting from the story.

Honest and hilarious
she is very honest! I love that. it is not a sob story. It is a play by play of a damage person who keeps damaging herself. Very honest but also hilarious!! laughed out loud on the subway one to many times. really, really great book. I wish you all the best. you really deserve it!!!
