Publisher's Summary
A Wall Street Journal best seller.
Sheriff Bree Taggert is blindsided by a killer’s devious plan in number one Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Melinda Leigh’s novel of escalating shock and suspense.
When Sheriff Bree Taggert discovers the body of a young woman floating near the bank of the Scarlet River, a note in her abandoned car suggests suicide. The autopsy reveals a different story. Holly Thorpe was dead long before she dropped off the bridge and hit the water.
As Bree and her investigator Matt Flynn delve into the case, secrets in Holly’s personal life complicate their efforts to solve the murder. Holly left behind a volatile marriage, an equally divisive relationship with her sister, and an employer whose intimate involvement with Holly was no secret. Each one has a motive for murder.
When Holly’s sister is terrorized by a stalker’s sick prank, and the prime suspect turns up dead, everything Bree was sure of is upended and her case goes off the rails. When the killer strikes close to home, Bree and Matt must race to solve the murders before one of their own becomes the next victim.

Great stories, but…
I’ve enjoyed these books, but I find it frustrating that it’s been broken up into so many books. It has cost and it’s going to cost a more of a fortune to get through all of them. I think that’s a little unfair. They could be put out as box sets.

Volume is so erratic it is hard to listen.
I am on chapter 3 and so annoyed. The narrator volume is all over the place. If I set the volume for the narration, I can't hear when she reads Bree or Matt's voices. If I set it for Bree and Matt, the narration hurts my ears because it is so loud. Very frustrating.

Narration of this series needs some work
The story was very good and once again, I couldn’t predict the ending! Love it! I really like this series but the narrator has such a challenge with the male characters. Not only does she go overboard with trying to differentiate between male and female characters, but Matt constantly sounds brooding or sleepy, even when she reads “Matt exclaimed!!” She’s not reading for context AT ALL. It’s super distracting, especially for a suspense novel. she does it for the female characters as well, but the male ones are so off that it makes it even more pronounced.

Narration very much needs an editor
One minute the narrator would talk like she was an announcer in a ball stadium, next she'd be whispering unintelligibly, especially when she was reading Matt's lines and often Bree's. If I turned up the volume to hear Matt, I'd be deafened with the next words she said. Does anybody listen to the narration before the audiobooks are published? I've listened to this narrator before and I don't remember this problem. This same person is narrating Melinda Leigh's next Bree Taggert book, which is going to make me hesitate to buy it. This one was so frustrating and distracting, I'm not sure I can stand this again.
An author once told me she had no control over narrators. That's too bad. I'm sure it can affect sales which the author misses out on.
Otherwise this was a good Melinda Leigh book.

Great continuation of the Bree Tagert Series! Love the writing. The suspense is great and not that easy to figure out. This story surprised me! Also, not too much sex but just the right amount of tease. Leaves the reader to fill in the spaces.

Good story but narrator hard to hear at times.
I enjoyed the book very much. No boring parts - something was happening all the time. Excellent story line and interesting people.
The problem I have, and it could be my hearing which is not perfect, is that the narrator has too far of an audible range for comfortable listening without constantly adjusting the volume. I have to have my hand on the volume control. When she speaks naturally it is very good as she has a beautiful clear voice. But when she speaks as the male she lowers her voice so far that I have to turn the volume up to hear her. This takes away from the enjoyment of the book.
I love this series and look forward to many more books.

Good Story Line
I really like Melinda Leigh’s Morgan Dane and Bree Taggert Series. The plots keep you interested and the characters lives keep you routining for them.
This particular book get poor marks for the narrator. Each time Matt’s voice was used it was a sad male vocal. It was like a woman with a deep voice mumbling. I could barely make out the words!

Yet Another Superb Work of Fiction!!
You know I haven't found a Melinda Leigh book that I haven't liked and I sure didn't start with Drown Her Sorrows. Melinda Leigh is one of my favorite authors!
Drown Her Sorrows is book #3 in the Bree Taggert Series, written exclusively by Melinda Leigh. Bree Taggert is the Sherriff of Randolph County, NY (Gray's Hollow) and is settling in nicely and getting used to her new routine as caregiver to her niece and nephew, who were orphaned when her sister Erin was murdered in Book #1. We see that Bree is even settling in nicely with her relationship with Matt. I'll leave it at that!
What I love about this series is that each book builds on the same relationships a little more with each title, but without being redundant and boring! Each story brings a new storyline to the table and keeps you interested and anticipating the next and this one was no different! This story is full of twists and turns and is just a fulfilling story clear to the end.
Christina Traister has narrated all of the books from the Bree Taggert Series and I must say I think I would be disappointed if I would hear someone else because I've come to correlate Taister to Taggert! She is the perfect voice for the character!
Overall, Melinda Leigh has knocked it out of the park, YET AGAIN, with Drown Her Sorrows and left me anxiously awaiting the next book!
I would like to thank Melinda Leigh, Montlake and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of Drown Her Sorrows which has allowed me to provide this honest and unbiased review.

Brody To the Rescue
Good daily deal to introduce this series to members. I like narrators male and young males voices. The story dictates how well Christins cadence of a story goes. Some stories seem stilted and others eg Juie Garwood, Mercy flows so well. This story was cleaver but a bit on the cheesy side. I like the characters but don’t feel compelled to buy more unless on $5 sale.
I had to listen on 1.2 speed to compensate for some of the dialogue.
Of course all the scenes with the German shepherds are wonderful. Greta and Brody steal your heart. See Kill Switch for more K-9 wonder dog.
Were my comments of help?
