À propos de cet audio
"With tons of suspects and plenty of danger, this is Coble at her best." --Library Journal | "Nobody does romantic suspense better than Colleen Coble." --Lisa Gardner | "Engaging characters, irresistible intrigue, and a slow-burning romance." --Mary Burton
USA TODAY bestselling author Colleen Coble knows there are few things more dangerous than family secrets, and her novels provide that ideal blend of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat with just the right amount of romance. Perfect for fans of Laura Dave's The Last Thing He Told Me or Allison Brennan's You'll Never Find Me.
Since her police-officer husband Eric's mysterious murder, Carly Harris has been struggling to support herself and their infant son. Her career as an antique dealer isn't sustainable, nor is her dream of becoming a novelist. So, when her grandmother proposes she and her two sisters restore the family's large Beaufort home and turn it into a bed-and-breakfast, she immediately gets to work clearing out the house. In the process, she uncovers a family secret that Eric kept hidden. And an heirloom that the wrong person wouldn't hesitate to kill for.
Homicide detective Lucas Bennett isn't his neighbor's biggest fan, not since she broke his brother's heart years ago. But when Carly turns to Lucas for help, believing she's found a lost Fabergé egg that would be worth millions and could put her family's lives in danger, he can't help but get involved. Soon, they're entangled in a mystery with threads that lead all the way to the Russian mafia. Lucas has gotten in deep, and while he trusts his ability to keep Carly and her family safe, he begins to realize he's vulnerable to an unexpected kind of danger--and helpless to stop the freefall. As they continue working closely together, Carly and Lucas realize they may have found something more precious than gold. Yet it's only a matter of time before Carly--or, worse, someone she loves--gets hurt.
Colleen Coble's Fragile Designs is gripping suspense with closed-door romance and includes an intriguing mystery surrounding an extremely valuable Fabergé egg, second-chance romance, home renovation, and found family.

4.5 stars - one of Coble’s best yet!
4.5 stars. I listened to the audiobook in January 2024. This new narrator is a very welcome addition to my personal list of narrators that I really enjoy. This is the best narrator out of all the audiobooks I’ve listened to by this author. This book fulfilled a reading challenge prompt where law enforcement was featured. The male main character is a seasoned homicide detective and the local police department.
This just may be my favourite book by this author—or at least in the top 3.
This was an exciting and suspenseful ride with betrayal and drama but it was balanced with familial relationships, babies, and more. Though they were maybe a somewhat ragtag group of people thrown together, but they grew as individuals and healed together. There were several tender moments that I appreciated. The ending was quite HEA (happily ever after) and made me both smile and tear up at the same time.
I knew very little about Fabergé eggs so it was fascinating to learn.
The truth uncovered a lot of lies, danger, and frustration. However, it also brought them something priceless—far more priceless than the Fabergé egg.
