Publisher's Summary

An original full-length novel set in the Halo universe and based on the New York Times best-selling video game series!

It has been six years since the end of the Covenant War...and yet on the planet Carrow, a world on the edge of the Joint Occupation Zone, a decisive new battle suddenly erupts. Human colonists and the alien Sangheili have already been living a tension-filled coexistence in this place, with Unified Earth Government envoy Melody Azikiwe attempting to broker a lasting peace between their two species. But as civil war now engulfs the Sangheili settlers, Melody must act on an additional covert assignment courtesy of the Office of Naval Intelligence: find a way to free the SPARTAN-IIs known as Gray Team, held in stasis since the end of the war by a cunning Elite fleetmaster consumed with vengeance. And none can anticipate the ongoing violence leading to the discovery of an even greater, unstoppable threat - one hidden for eons below the surface of the planet....

Play to Your Character

spoiler-ish. (Also sorry I speak in D&D)

It's been a nice switch up. Civis and npcs didnt just die as soon as the enemy looked at them and people tried; with actual degrees of success.
Also nice seeimg non-coms acctually get to use their skills. So often in military they're the escort mission, the walking talking door key or handwavium so soldiers just gotta soldier.
Chatacters survive on more than a good Dex roll and plot armor
I know military fiction why are you complaining about too much badass soldiers.
Because I can get action from any where with action, and there's pletty of that in games and movies. A book can do action and more; and this one did.

duuude

the book was great, its a whole new crazy thing to add to the halo story. The narrator was a bit bland when it came to voice changes but it didnt matter. My favorite part was the ending, the book was great but the end tied several different books together and it was very well done.

The best halo book since Fall of reach

I have read every single halo book and have been an avid fan since the fall of reach. This is by far the best book since said initial title. It has everything you want in a halo book. Very well written and by far the best narration to date of a halo book. Now if only they would make a game out of this book!

Narration not that great but story is worth it

Narration was flat and with as many characters as this book had a little more distinction would have been appreciated. The story adds to the Halo universe and is a fun read/listen for those interested.

Great book!

Memorable characters, good motivations, great performance; and an excellent story! I got through half the book in one sitting, finished it in the next! I was enthralled! I would highly recommend this as a companion piece to Halo: The Cole protocol!

This is essence of Spartan

This is what Halo is. I am hungry for the next installment. Hurry! Grey team is the last of the originals. The story line was well developed and the characters were exciting well developed. Presentation and performance...second to none. What is the release date of the next book?!

Good take on a new enemy.

Very well written story. I can't wait to see how the rest of the Halo Expanded Universe outs affected because of this book.

Best Halo novel yet and I've read them all

I was surprised at how good this novel was. I have read every Halo novel, some.multiple times over the past decade.

This one was fantastic. honestly would be my pick if they were to ever make a proper film.

I can't recommend it enough.

meh

messy and contrived story that reads like female empowerment schlock. strange, unexplained Deus ex machina frequently appear and make the already messy story even harder to follow.

pros: it follows a spartan II team and a sangheili ally, which are the best characters in the canon
