Story
When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel Hollis writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

Story
Dr. Brown defines spirituality as something not reliant on religion, theology, or dogma - rather, it is a belief in our interconnectedness and in a loving force greater than ourselves. Whether you access the sacred through traditional worship, solitary meditation, communion with nature, or creative pursuits, one thing is clear: Rising strong after falling is a spiritual practice that brings a sense of perspective, meaning, and purpose to our lives.

Are you tired of feeling f*cked up? If you are, Gary John Bishop has the answer. In this straightforward handbook, he gives you the tools and advice you need to demolish the slag weighing you down and become the truly unf--ked version of yourself. "Wake up to the miracle you are," he directs. "Here's what you've forgotten: You're a f--king miracle of being." It isn't other people that are standing in your way; it isn't even your circumstances that are blocking your ability to thrive. It's yourself and the negative self-talk you keep telling yourself.

Story
The relentless pursuit of high self-esteem has become a virtual religion - and a tyrannical one at that. Our ultracompetitive culture tells us we need to be constantly above average to feel good about ourselves, but there is always someone more attractive, successful, or intelligent than we are. And even when we do manage to grab hold of high self-esteem for a brief moment, we can't seem to keep it. Our sense of self-worth goes up and down like a ping-pong ball, rising and falling in lockstep with our latest success or failure.

Publisher's Summary
A hilarious and heartwarming rampage through the world of self-care
Marianne Power was a self-help junkie. For years she lined her bookshelves with dog-eared copies of definitive guide after definitive guide on how to live your best life. Yet one day she woke up to find that the life she dreamed of and the life she was living were not miles but continents apart. So she set out to make a change. Or, actually, to make every change.
Marianne decided to finally find out if her elusive perfect life - the one without debt, anxiety, hangovers, or Netflix marathons, the one where she healthily bounced around town with perfect teeth to meet the cashmere-sweater-wearing man of her dreams - lay in the pages of those books. So for a year she vowed to test a book a month, following its advice to the letter, taking the surest road she knew to a perfect Marianne.
As her year-long plan turned into a demented roller coaster where everything she knew was turned upside down, she found herself confronted with a different question: Self-help can change your life, but is it for the better?

An Enertaining Listen
Marianne has a way of putting words down in a way that makes you want to keep listening. Its story form of self help. I was more invested in what was happening in the next sentence, paragraph, chapter than I was about the actual help help part of it.

Loved everything about this book.
I really enjoyed the author naratting the book, added to the authenticity.
I bought this book instead of a self-help book and think that's for the best. A very funny and emotional book.

End of self help
I admit to being a self help junkie, and have attended a Tony Robbins event in my quest to be a better, more productive, happier person. I too have driven people bits in my quest for perfection, and have not had any significant improvement of quality of life. I’ve read some of the books the author talks about on this journey, and I have to say that this book completely changed my view. Marianne was entertaining (especially the chapter on The Secret), honest, and heartfelt throughout the book and the biggest take away was that we all need to be thankful for what we have instead of thinking about what we don’t have. Best self help book I’ve ever come across and would highly recommend to everyone

Amazing!
Book was fantastic I finished it in three (3) different sessions. I love to listen to audible books while commuting to and from my work. I couldn't stopped listening, from doing the dishes going to the gym... I listened. Thank you for the fantastic outlook on life and on how some people view it comparison to others.

Eye opening
Although this was a bit of a struggle at times because it seemed to be a diary monologue of depression- it did help me appreciate where I am and to look at the positive in everything and especially myself! There is not a soul out there that can give us better answers - we just have to stop beating ourselves up and appreciate what is in front of us! I did cheer Maryanne to the end and was happy that she never gave up!
