Publisher's Summary
The go-to resource - now fully revised and updated - for building a healthy body image and making peace with food, once and for all.
When it was first published, Intuitive Eating was revolutionary in its anti-dieting approach. The authors, both prominent health professionals in the field of nutrition and eating disorders, urge listeners to embrace the goal of developing body positivity and reconnecting with one’s internal wisdom about eating - to unlearn everything they were taught about calorie-counting and other aspects of diet culture and to learn about the harm of weight stigma. Today, their message is more relevant and pressing than ever. With this updated edition of the classic best seller, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch teach listeners how to:
- Follow the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating to achieve a new and trusting relationship with food
- Fight against diet culture and reject diet mentality forever
- Find satisfaction in their food choices
- Exercise kindness toward their feelings, their bodies, and themselves
- Prevent or heal the wounds of an eating disorder
- Respect their bodies and make peace with food - at any age, weight, or stage of development
- Follow body positive feeds for inspiration and validation
…and more easy-to-follow suggestions that can lead listeners to integrate Intuitive Eating into their everyday lives and feel the freedom that comes with trusting their inner wisdom - for life.

Sample voice is not the actual voice in book
The voice read in the 5-minute sample was only in the introduction, read by one of the authors. The rest of the book is read by Siri sounding voice. The voice is robotic, the pauses and timing are distracting and it's very very unenjoyable to listen to. The opposite of anything "intuitive". I wish the whole book was read by one of the authors because I really enjoyed listening to the introduction.
I am very excited to purchase the physical book and learn about intuitive eating - and hoping for a re-recording with a real sounding voice pleeeease!!

Nope.
If I "intuitively ate" I'd eat myself to death. This approach does not work for everyone, and to boldly claim it does it absolutely ridiculous.

Nauseatingly woke
I couldn’t go past the first chapter because I couldn’t stand the woke language and ideology any more. Very disappointing

Wow! I am excited to see how this way of thinking will change me.
This book helped me to identify what attitudes and behaviours I have (personally and culturally) that are harmful to me. It provided great insight into who I want to be. Intuitive eating encourages eating satisfaction and body appreciation.

That was a mistake.
I tried to look passed the “gender inclusive mambo jumbo, but in the same hand, it’s Hard to focus on losing weight when I’m being told that it’s racist to not want to be fat or have a negative ideology about being fat based off of some sort of white man from 100-500 years ago in history…. (Which also seems like a bunch of bullocks, as it wasn’t too far long ago in history, being fat no matter your race, meant you had wealth). You can literally look at almost all royal families from the British to the Chinese Dynasty .. I’m tired of all this stuff.. I see enough of it on FB, and had I known this is what the first 60+ min would include, wouldn’t have bothered..

Changed my life
Not an exaggeration. Recommended to me by my dietitian following a diagnosis of gestational diabetes, and I can’t thank her enough ❤️💕

life-changing
A must-read for anyone and everyone. It will change your views on so many things. it challenges a lot of inherited thoughts, but it's written in such a kind way. in my opinion, there is no alternative to this book. I can finally eat again, or maybe, for the first time since I was an infant. Thank you.

less politics more health please
I was under the impression this book would be more about the science of intuitive eating and less of a political agenda sorrounding body image. My concern is that certain unhealthy people will read this book and use it as an excuse to remain the same. Being a big person myself I have experienced the problems of carrying to much weight from knee problems, back pain, sleepyness from food, the feeling of overeating, eating for emotional release and many other issues I can tell you sometimes just accepting yourself is not always the key and changes need to be made or you will die. In order to understand intuitive eating you do not need this book just feel and understand how food effects your body. I truly wish this book was much more about how to listen and understand your body then about Lizzo and celebrities and oppressors. some pointers I learned in my journey I dont exercise I move and focus on things I want to do for example Nike Run Club and Caroline Girvans training programs I dont always do it 100% I do what I believe I can do for the day sometimes it 100 other times its 40 or 20% or 0% I dont beat myself up or just give up I just rest when I feel I need to. In regards to eating intuitive eating is important you must learn to know your bodys signs of hunger and fullness. Also what foods give you energy and what foods are what I would consider bad and remove energy from you make you feel sad or tired. and contrary to what the book states some foods have made me sad not because of guipt but because when I eat them I feel horrible they make me tired and grogy and take away time from my life sleeping in a food coma how can that be good? anyway good luck people

Great information, terrible narration.
I love this book and it’s a perfect place to start when beginning intuitive eating. It’s packed with helpful information and nurtures a learning environment for honoring your body.
With that in mind, if you have the option to buy the book, I highly suggest you do. It’s terribly narrated, and it sounds like Siri is reading you the book. If you can get past that, it’s worth it.

Terrible narration
I can’t stand the narrator. It’s almost unbearable to listen to. She sounds robotic. It’s distracting and difficult to comprehend.

The narrator sounds like a robot...
I was looking forward to this one but I find that the narrator sounds synthesized. She will start a sentence with decent inflection but then quickly modulates to a flat tone that I find unlistenable. I could have an eBook reader read this with more tonal variety than this.

Don’t listen to this!
This book has been one of the worst things I have ever followed. Gained weigh, and not happier in my body. Super puffy, uncomfortable, and bigger from trying this. And horrible advice to just get whatever kids want. They don’t become “intuitive” and start eating vegetables. This breeds a horrible “I want this” mentality and gives no credit to having self control. This book opened more issues and I wish I could return it. I hate it being in my library on audible!

Amazing. Life saving information.
I appreciate all the eating disorders awareness info that was added to the fourth edition. Eating disorders are deadly and severe. Intuitive eating is so important for us to understand and apply.

Insulting Woke Garbage
According to this book, my problem is not a weight management issue, but rather, the patriarchy & white cis-gender thinny-privilage. Get bent. My ACTUAL problem, one based in Reality is needing to lose the extra 100lbs that is causing my already disintegrating spine extra damage. No wonder the obesity epidemic is worse than ever. I cannot believe the woke garbage spilling from this book. Not helpful. Not even a little bit.

Potentially Life Changing
I have been a life long dieter. I was burnt out on diets and trying to lose weight. I also felt out of control with food and stress eating. I am using the principles of intuitive eating to ditch the diet mentality, fire the food police, and honor my body and what it needs. It feels like freedom. This is not a quick fix... it is a paradigm shift and takes practice. Not for those seeking a diet, but definitely for those who want to change.

Great Book But the Narration is Awful!
Having read the 1st edition of this book, I was very excited to hear the 4th edition. The updated information is great but the narration is awful. It felt like listening to a long robocall. It's the one thing that's preventing me from spending a credit on the book.
