Publisher's Summary

The go-to resource - now fully revised and updated - for building a healthy body image and making peace with food, once and for all.

When it was first published, Intuitive Eating was revolutionary in its anti-dieting approach. The authors, both prominent health professionals in the field of nutrition and eating disorders, urge listeners to embrace the goal of developing body positivity and reconnecting with one’s internal wisdom about eating - to unlearn everything they were taught about calorie-counting and other aspects of diet culture and to learn about the harm of weight stigma. Today, their message is more relevant and pressing than ever. With this updated edition of the classic best seller, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch teach listeners how to:

  • Follow the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating to achieve a new and trusting relationship with food
  • Fight against diet culture and reject diet mentality forever
  • Find satisfaction in their food choices
  • Exercise kindness toward their feelings, their bodies, and themselves
  • Prevent or heal the wounds of an eating disorder
  • Respect their bodies and make peace with food - at any age, weight, or stage of development
  • Follow body positive feeds for inspiration and validation

…and more easy-to-follow suggestions that can lead listeners to integrate Intuitive Eating into their everyday lives and feel the freedom that comes with trusting their inner wisdom - for life.

Amazing. Life saving information.

I appreciate all the eating disorders awareness info that was added to the fourth edition. Eating disorders are deadly and severe. Intuitive eating is so important for us to understand and apply.

Potentially Life Changing

I have been a life long dieter. I was burnt out on diets and trying to lose weight. I also felt out of control with food and stress eating. I am using the principles of intuitive eating to ditch the diet mentality, fire the food police, and honor my body and what it needs. It feels like freedom. This is not a quick fix... it is a paradigm shift and takes practice. Not for those seeking a diet, but definitely for those who want to change.

Changed my life

This is a life changing book. I highly recommended to everyone who has been sucked into the diet culture as I was. The premise is revolutionary and yet so simple.

Worst narration ever

Hard to really grasp the content at times because the narrator was either robotic or snide.

Great information, terrible narration.

I love this book and it’s a perfect place to start when beginning intuitive eating. It’s packed with helpful information and nurtures a learning environment for honoring your body.
With that in mind, if you have the option to buy the book, I highly suggest you do. It’s terribly narrated, and it sounds like Siri is reading you the book. If you can get past that, it’s worth it.

The narrator sounds like a robot...

I was looking forward to this one but I find that the narrator sounds synthesized. She will start a sentence with decent inflection but then quickly modulates to a flat tone that I find unlistenable. I could have an eBook reader read this with more tonal variety than this.

I cant listen to it

I'm in a support group that is based on this book. I know The content is perfect, but the voice of the reader is unbearable. It's like she is reading a phone book. Im.switching it out for the older version.

Why can’t author’s read their own nonfiction work

I’m only 2 chapters in and can barely get over the voice of the the person who is reading this. For whatever reason, voiceover “talent” can never seem to bring authenticity to nonfiction books the way the authors can. It’s as if they are more focused on the smooth tone of their voice than actually bringing life to the subject they’re reading. I seriously want to continue this but may have to quit as the reader is making it incredibly boring.

Tip to nonfiction authors and producers, if the author can’t read the audio version of the books then PLEASE find voiceover talent who actually bring life and creativity to the book, not just people who happen to have the right “tone” for voiceover work.

Ok but repetitive

I am a third of the way through this book I’m not sure I’ll finish. I’m having trouble concentrating on the content because of the terrible narration. I think it’s a person, but it sounds very mechanized, almost like Siri. There’s no inflection or humanity to it. Tough listen. The information is good, but the content is repetitive. Only a few decent takeaways so far.
